FIGHT
In 1993-94, when I was 19 years old I pencilled a series for Marvel Comics called WAR MACHINE. It was a big break for my career but ultimately a frustrating experience. My drawing skills probably weren’t where they should have been to work professionally but the inker I was paired with was also not a good fit. Anything good I managed to do never wound up in the final product. It was very disheartening at the time.
Last weekend as a warm up I inked this 23 year old page of WAR MACHINE (issue #7, page 19) myself. It was sitting around in my studio and I figured I’d ink one panel for the hell of it. I ended up inking the whole page. It took two hours. Not good time management…but what can you do? Since I did it, I figured I’d share the results. My 2016 inks are first, followed by my 1993 pencils and finally the printed 1993 page, inks by Pam Eklund.

White creators. When you’ve somehow appealed to legions of poc fans by finally giving a character that offers some representation, and then said fans go hard trying to talk your shit up, don’t turn around and do this. Don’t put a afro-latino face on your age old white-man argument of “why does it even matter?”
I actually disagree. There are plenty of people who see the qualification of race (ex: black Spider-Man, Black Captain America) as a good thing but it detracts from the identification of the character as a figure in themselves. Think of all the people who don’t read Miles’ book and then try to press that he’s just a black version of Peter Parker.
This isn’t saying that race shouldn’t be brought into the example. But to denote that a character is cool or important specifically because of their race often takes away from the enjoyment of the character beyond their skin color. Miles has never been the Black Spider-Man. He’s Miles Morales, Spider-Man or The Ultimate Spider-Man, but his book has never been called ‘black Spider-Man’. And the message that’s trying to be sent here is the if you can’t appreciate or read a character solely based on their merits and only support them based from their skin color (ex: people who reblog mass posts of characters of color but don’t buy their books or take 5 seconds to look on Wikipedia to know anything about their story or background) aren’t getting the full story.
Perfectly said.

I find it weird that Comic Book Wolverine can slice people into a pile of goo, but he can’t smoke or swear because that wouldn’t be appropriate for kids, but Movie Wolverine can smoke and swear, but he can’t slice people into a pile of goo because that wouldn’t be appropriate for kids.

Kicking off Inktober with a Daredevil commission. Never drawn him before, so I’m sure a lot’s incorrect, but this is what he looks liketo my mind’s eye. www.robertsammelin.com
SECRET WARS #0 exclusive cover for Panini Italy, for LUCCA Comics. From start to finish.
I tried to push the first costume Natasha was wearing, but Marvel asked for the most iconic one.
T’Challa makes good on his promise to Namor.
it was a bit shit how namor just basically shrugged it off next issue though.
Namor is tougher than a lot of people think but he should have been dead several times over
Agreed, Hickman should have ended it here.
