Shouldn’t vampires be dark skinned as they hunt at night and pearly white skin is extremely visible in the dark? I understand that they are pale because they don’t have blood in their veins or whatever and don’t see sun but I still feel like the pigment of their skin would be darker after turning into a vampire as an adaptation to better suit their behavior.

Through natural selection and evolution I wouldn’t expect there to be any super pale skinned vampires left becuase they would easily be seen by people and potentially hunted by humans/other wild animals. Like you said, darker skin would be a much better option. I’m really annoyed that I’ve never come across a vampire with dark skin.
