If any French reader objects to having his susceptibilities offended, one would have to refrain from repeating in his presence what is perhaps the finest reply that a Frenchman ever made. This would enjoin us from consigning something sublime to History. Les Miserables, Volume 2, Book 1, Chapter 15: Cambronne (a.k.a. Victor Hugo’s elegant defense of “Shit!”)
hi there!
hello all!!
Thank you @alouettesque for the welcome back and thank you @ellisbarrow for handing the handle back <3
I got this URL by being in the right place at the right time. I then passed it on to someone amazing (see: @ellisbarrow) who kindly passed it back to me.
I am in the process of updating all the wonderful things that @ellisbarrow preserved and restored for me, but as a current PhD student, that might take me awhile. Please be patient with me -- I really want to keep this blog going since I relate to our moth-lover now more than ever, but grad school is a beast and summer jobs are worse :’)

I like this!! The idea of picking a book from a category (instead of a specific book) gives it so much flexibility.

“The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanely sensitive. To them… a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create — so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, their very breath is cut off… They must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency they are not really alive unless they are creating.”
— Pearl Buck
Times of terrorism always provoke such racism in people. Crazy seeing people rant on about ‘Muslims’ or ‘refugees’ responsibility for the events in Paris tonight. Refugees nor muslims as a whole are to blame for this, terrorism has no religion and refugees are fleeing this very type of violence in their own countries..
I literally can’t believe people are blaming this on refugees.
Refugees are fleeing their own countries to escape EXACTLY THIS.
Send your good vibes, good thoughts, prayers, whatever you prefer to Paris right now.
