♡“what are you doing?!” “isn’t it obvious? we’re sneaking out.” “alright but put me down!!”

♡sneaking off to balconies where no one can see you

♡funny fake names in your contacts so no one knows who you’re texting

♡slipping each other notes when no one is looking

♡“are…you climbing out of a window? “are you coming?”

♡trying to conceal your blush when they whisper something in your ear so no one notices

♡resting their hand on your thigh under a table

♡sprinting home just so you can hug them after a long day

♡kissing their forehead in a closeted room to give them a vote of confidence before you both have to leave

♡ ‘disguising’ yourself in an airport so you can run up to your s/o

♡they lightly graze your arm or leg when walking by in hallways, just to send a tingle down your spine

Sunrise & Roses

Life is not a race. It doesn't matter if you're "behind for your age" or if stuff takes a long time for you to accomplish. Things will fall into place. Who cares ? There is no age police. Don't stress yourself.

You don’t have to write with the goal of finishing a whole story. And even if you do write with that goal, and you don’t finish the story, then you’re still writing.

Fanfic writers, especially, all way too hard on ourselves about our WIPs. Way, way too hard.

I have folders of WIPs, by categories, and I used to despair of finishing them all but… then I learned that “finish” has very, very different meaning in the “paid to write” community.

Well-written fragments and scenes and thoughts and micro stories — personal essays and flash fiction and other short prose — are welcome at many literary journals. They’re writing forms unto themselves. Sometimes all the story wants to be is 500 words (flash fiction). Sometimes it wants to be 5,000 (short story). And sometimes 50,000 (novel). Or any form in between.

So the next time you write a blurb, a drabble, or any other short writing piece, and then stop and leave it be — don’t be so hard on yourself.

Maybe you’ll finish it. Or maybe it’s finished already. Maybe it’ll find it’s way into a story. Or maybe not.

Writing 300 words of how your blorbos would enjoy the sunset and then never looking at it again still counts as writing and is good practice for you.
