This blog is a random clusterfuck because I have no self control when it comes to hitting the reblog button.  Will contain vulture culture (dead animals.) Tagging is usually too much work and I rarely make my own posts.  Queer adult.  United States.

I can feel The dryness of those markers in my bones

Fun fact those dry markers were supposed to have water put into them to make them work. You take off the bottom thing and pour water in and bam, instant marker success. Only learned about this four years after I’d lost my set 🙃

WHAT

Hey. Reblog to save some poor kid lots of grief.

I just stood up so fast and snatched mine out of my closet brb going to the sink

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

OH MY GOD

This is going to be an unpleasant post but I need to talk to y’all about heat stroke in dogs. I am an ER vet and I am seeing firsthand the death toll that this heat wave is taking on our pets. In the past two weeks, for every single weekend shift I have worked, we have had at least one DOA with a body temperature over 107 degrees. One of them had simply been on a 20 minute walk at 5pm. All of them were brachycephalic (short faced breeds like pugs and french bulldogs). Their owners were in shock that this could happen so quickly, and their grief lingers with me.

If you have a dog, and especially if you have a brachycephalic dog, you need to familiarize yourself with the signs of heat stroke. Do not take your dogs out in the heat of the day, be aware of the pavement temperature, and always have fresh water available for them. When I am outdoors with my dog I am checking on him constantly. This heat wave is extremely serious; I need you to keep yourself and your pets safe.

okay okay so like i don’t wanna kill the party but i just saw an instagram shop selling a shirt that says now i am become death the destroyer of worlds in barbie font and i just sigh i just like i get the novelty of barbie and oppenheimer weekend but i have got to stress the bomb changed the entire world forever and wiped out over a quarter of a million people i think maybe we gotta kinda take a step back here when we start selling it as if it’s fun hot girl summer fodder

before you start babygirling oppenheimer just know that from what i’ve heard the film does not address downwinders, does not have a singular japanese person in it, and exploited our museums by claiming photos on loan for personal use (meaning they did not have to pay a penny to use them in the film despite being a multi-million dollar production).

Honestly the vibes of anyone going to see an atomic bomb movie when natives like the Diné still have to boil radiation out of water in New Mexico are absolutely garbage barrel rank vibes. They tested the bombs on Diné land, near native water sources, where children played and livestock drank from. They still are reporting cancers and have been for generations now.

I fail to see how this isn't another movie glorifying the USA while silencing BIPOC. New Mexico is the most radioactive state. And it's not a coincidence that natives were the ones affected. Just like it's not a coincidence they were written out of this narrative. Just like how it's not a coincidence natives suffer more health conditions with worse healthcare.

So to make light of the very real hurt and genocide and murder with hot pink quotes is so tone deaf and ignorant. (Also barbie would fucking never do that.)

The movie also doesn’t talk at ALL about the ARS testing done on US citizens. The studies were created because scientists working on the Manhattan project feared ending up like the Radium Girls. It is because of the Manhattan project that we injected people with Plutonium to determine the “tolerable dose.” We gave pregnant women irradiated cocktails to see how it would affect fetal development. Most of these citizens were (unsurprisingly) BIPOC.

sometimes i 2d animate too

This was for something bigger, but I got lazy... specifically a fan mv for Muse - Supremacy, so you can guess what the wolf is saying

I will say I get the vibe that a lot of peoples interest and support for strikers is a bit too much for a vicarious ‘burn it down’ thrill, rather than for the actual goals of a strike.

Like UPS has agreed to come back to the table and it is very possible they will concede to Union demands and avert a strike. And if that happens (so long as the union does not make concessions on its key demands) it’s a good thing. It’s a victory for the laborers. It is the same ultimate conclusion that a strike would intend to produce except without the workers having to go on (not so great) strike pay for a week or two.

I really hope people online aren't getting the wrong impression of unions and that they're flawless Things that will protect them from any and all mistreatment and that strikes are fun little treats union workers get

Unions are People not Things. Union leaders can fuck up. Unions can definitely operate in a way that gets you low wages and poor benefits if you're not being represented well.

A union by itself does not guarantee you anything. Unions take work and money to run. You pay dues, you go to meetings, you vote. You protect each other in a union. You don't join a union and magically have everything taken care of for you.

Strikes are a powerful tool but are scary. They're not a goal to achieve. Unions don't aim to go on strike during negotiations.
