When someone says these days sexism and misogyny don’t exist anymore show them this.

“It’s no secret that some humans are homosexual, but did you know that the behavior is also very common in the animal kingdom? In fact, studies suggest that around 1,500 animal species are known to practice regular same-sex coupling - from insects and fish to birds and mammals - with the actual number likely being even higher.

“Being homosexual is very common and no problem in the natural world at all. In fact, we see more heterophobia than homophobia in the animal kingdom,” Jasper Buikx, biologist at Amsterdam’s ARTIS Zoo, told DW in an interview.

There are many reasons why these animals engage in homosexual activity. Sometimes, it’s due to a lack of heterosexual partners, other times it’s just for pleasure and in still other cases it’s about forming social bonds or settling fights.

Most of these animals aren’t purely homosexual - they  also mate with the opposite gender, at least for procreation purposes. But there are a few examples of long-term exclusively gay relationships in the animal kingdom, with some of them even ending up forming a family.

You may have seen these fliers going around on social media and just to be safe I’m warning you all that this is false. It was posted maliciously on reddit and spread around to get undocumented immigrants to disclose their documentation status. Likely thinking that some would get reported on or whatever intentions that were had here. It’s spread so much that Starbucks even sent out memos to all their stores about this rumor. Spread the information that it is FALSE.

Just an update but they people who started this went to Twitter to impersonate Latinx people to spread the information, posted it in Spanish as well, and some pretended to be managers at certain Starbucks locations stating that they will still be honoring the “promotion.” So if you see a “ Starbucks manager” saying something like this over Twitter then they are most definitely fake and trying to lure people to that particular location.

The intention (which originated on 4chan, not Reddit like I initially said) was to hurt a liberal business.

Quickly other people on the /pol/ board saw this as an opportunity to call I.C.E. and they are clearly still trying to get people to go to certain locations with that intention. There’s a reason why certain people on 4chan are trying to lure undocumented immigrants to particular locations so be wary & spread this info!

fun thing about king James, this guy was fairly public about his bf (more public than what was acceptable). He threw lots of extravagant parties with his man on his arm. It pissed off the church obviously so to get them off his back, he’s the one that ordered the third translation of the Bible from Hebrew to English (the King James Version aka the Authorized Version) so the Bible every hot blooded all American Christian reads today was literally just written so a very gay king could fuck his boyfriend in peace.

it occasionally occurs to me that pretty much all sj issues can be summed up as “don’t hurt people” with a sidenote of “you can hurt people on accident, but they’re still hurt so apologize and learn from it”

basically at the core of it, it’s similar to “if you bump into a stranger, apologize and try not to do it again”. And people not only debate it, but some go out of their way to bump into strangers and scream “Awww are you hurt?! are you crying!! did I upset you!!” as a weird hobby

also true of like 90% of what gets called “political correctness”

there is a difference between language that sugarcoats and language that is specifically designed to not hurt groups of people who are targeted all the time

knowingly using words that hurt them isn’t edgy, it’s mean
