I love Sam Winchester
Because he has the sweetest heart I’ve never seen.
He grew up unrooted and lonely in a world outside of the American Dream where monsters are real and the knowledge is a burden. Everyday Sam and his brother are risking their lives and getting hurt and watching people, friends and strangers, get killed. Having once experienced a slice of normal life, he missed the comforts and joy of the normal when he returned to the nightmare world of monsters and demons and yet he never held it against the civilians living in blissful ignormance. Sam is so burdened with responsiblities, guilt, and sorrow, but none of that takes away his sweetness to help others, offer empathy and understanding, provide companionship to his brother, and tell scared children that they are not evil for simply being different. Sam has literally been to the worse level of Hell and yet he yearns to make a world that never accepted him a better place than he found it.

I’ve had the great opportunity to interview Jared and the cast of Supernatural many times over the years. In 2018, at the San Diego comic-con, I decided to ask Jared what “His Nerd thing was?”. Jared responded with a love for Star Wars books and the lore contained. Chatting a bit more, I discovered that his favorite author in this realm of novels is Timothy Zahn. An award winning author, known for creating the character Thrawn and many beloved Star Wars novels.
I filed away that info for 10 months, then, seeing that we would have a chance to speak with Jared and the cast once again. I got to tracking down a way to make a request of author Timothy Zahn. Finding him to be receptive and a fan of the Supernatural show, I worked with schedules and opportunity to make some magic happen. Luckily Mr. Zahn’s signing schedule had the perfect window to make something happen.
From there on out, I just stood on the interview carpet and waited to bring a fan experience to someone that couldn’t have his own. It was a fun memory for all and I think anyone that’s met Jared would agree that he deserves it. [derek sante - review nation]
