So today i wore this, and got dresscoded because my shirt wasnt long enough. Honestly, i am extremely done with this entire school. Like seriously guys, its my legs. L E G S. and even if say my butt was showing, who fucking cares. This is MY body, nobody elses. Nobody has a say in how i dress it. And also, they dont let you call your parents and ask for other clothes, if you do change, you still have to sit in ISS all day. But fuck that, because i literally told my principal off, left the school, and drank tea in my underwear for the rest of the day.

I go to an all girls school in England. We’re made to wear uniforms up to the age of 16. This year is my first non uniform school year and on induction day we got told a dress code. This would have been reasonable of course if it hadn’t been the most sexist piece of shit I’ve ever heard.

Today I was told by my teacher and I quote, that ‘we’re not allowed to wear any form of strappy tops because there are male staff on campus and it’s not fair to them because they can’t control they’re desires.’ She said that my 'shoulders/cleavage/midriff would be distracting to the male faculty’. She said that she was allowed to be telling us what to wear 'because she’s a woman’.

I’ve seen posts like this made by girls in schools in America but never did I think I would be subject to it in England at a school with not teenage boy in sight. There are no male faculty at our school under the age of about 30. She’s actually accusing the middle age men of my school of being aroused by their underaged students. There is no way there are legitimately men at my school who get so aroused by my fucking shoulders that they’re to distracted to teach me.

HOW IS THAT FUCKING OKAY TO TELL YOUR STUDENTS

AND IF THESE MEN LEGITIMATELY HAVE A REAL PROBLEM MAYBE THEY SHOULDN’T BE FUCKING TEACHING UNDERAGE GIRLS AND MAYBE SOCIETY NEEDS TO STOP FUCKING TELLING ME TO BE ASHAMED OF MY BODY AND MAYBE IT SHOULD BE TEACHING PEOPLE TO STOP OVER SEXUALISING ENTIRELY NORMAL PARTS OF MY ANATOMY.

The bottom line is that this is rape culture and victim blaming, perpetuating the idea that men can’t control themselves and that the victim is the one who needs to be covering up their body and hiding themselves away in hopes that maybe that rapist won’t become to violently aroused by them.

The bottom line is that they are teaching maLe and female students everywhere that this is okay and to be expected.

This is not fucking okay.

The bottom line is that this kind of behavior, especially from adults in authority positions, cannot be tolerated.

So today I was walking with my friend before school, and a teacher comes over and says her shorts are to short and she needs to go to the office to have them measured, and she is written up for violating dress code. Meanwhile at a pep rally later that day the cheer leaders (who were wearing booty shorts) were twerking to Anaconda by Nikki Minaj. In front of the whole school. At a school sanctioned event. wtf
