Adora started out in team horde (evil pokemon team in this au) and grew up being taught that pokemon are evil feral creatures who need to be controlled.
After being denied going out on offical missions in the field by shadowweaver for "not being ready" adora decideds to prove herself by going out and capturing a trainers pokemon to be controlled by the horde.
Catra eggs her on and decides to be the voice in her ear through her first "mission" and also means she can keep lookout on base while adoras away.
Adora ends up bumping into two trainers (bow and glimmer) a fairy type trainer and fighting type trainer, after almost defeating them glimmer and bow end up convincing adora that pokemon are complex and caring creatures.
Adora manages to remove the chip from a mightyena she stole for her mission and together they join bow and glimmer on their journey!
They start off my going to visit scientist trainer Entrapta to see if she would know how to make the chips unusable!
