#oooo okay#mario galaxy bc it was basically the first video game i have any memory of playing#undertale is my favourite video game ever and probably the most influential on me specifically. it's the reason why I'm an artist#splatoon 2! the other splatoon games also fit but 2 is definitely my most played#it's the one i have the most nostalgia for and the one I played with my friends all the time#Minecraft is just sorta like. my default state. it's also one of thr first videogames I got super into and it's great#and the last one is animal crossing new leaf.#i still have like my ten year old save file. the game is So nostalgic and melancholy to me that I get sad everytine i play it#but like in a good way. it makes me think about how much I played it as a kid#stardew valley and pokemon x could also probably go on here#AND SUPER PAPER MARIO. It's also one of thr first games i have any memory playing.#and animal crossing city folk#but that's way more than five#maybe pokemon alpha sapphire too...

Artist friend groups are like. Anime. Realistic portrait of a musician. Realistic portrait of a girl with some body horror. Guy who spent a lot of time on art youtube in 2018. Warrior cats fan, current or recovered. Guy who wants to be a cartoonist so so bad. Geometry. The most gorgeous rendering you’ve ever seen. Anime again but different this time
both the people who are like “ugh the stuff with controlling kris/the no mercy route is so preachy 🙄🙄 sorry for playing a game” and the people who are like “you’re messed up for playing/enjoying the no mercy route or snowgrave route” are MADLY missing the point….. you’re SUPPOSED to play the game. that’s why it was made. and you’re supposed to experience the interesting and thought provoking deconstruction of what it means to control the player character, and the subversion of the trope of indiscriminately killing rpg enemies, as part of fun and engaging little plot lines. and then you’re supposed to sit back and go wow! what a cool and neat thing to work into a plot. and then move on like…… i promise you toby is not actually trying to give you real actual lasting irl guilt for playing the games the way he painstakingly made them, and i promise theres nothing wrong with others fully enjoying the games the way he painstakingly made them either
if undertale’s no mercy route in particular seems “preachy” its because undertale was ABOUT being merciful, ABOUT subverting that specific rpg trope, and the no mercy route was a hidden secret route for when people actively went out of their way not to do that. its not about shaming people for playing a video game its just about making you Think! About The Trope!
