These 217 House Republicans didn’t just tie themselves to a cruel and vindictive bill. They did it to prop up the most widely-despised president in the history of the country. They deserve to be destroyed, and they must be an example to anyone else who would take the same cruel and harmful actions in the future.

yeah guys this isn’t an exaggeration……this plan is really fucking bad. literally, 24 million people are gonna be robbed of their healthcare all because rich politicians woke up one morning and decided to make poor people’s lives harder…..,, and that’s not even the end of it. this plan goes against rape victims, those suffering with PPD, domestic violence victims, trans people, abortions/birth control, infants, and maternity leave. rape was literally made a “preexisting condition” under this bill like holy fuck????? people suffering with deadly diseases who had Obamacare in the past will have to pay 10 times more for proper treatment, which will cause premiums to rise. a lot of people don’t have the money to fucking spend 10 times more than they would usually so they’ll most likely continue to suffer and die. people are literally going to fucking die if this passes through the senate………….. “land of the free” my ass. 

Domestic violence and sexual assault are now deemed as pre-existing conditions. Further silencing victims, both female and male victims.

For non-Americans, having a pre-existing condition makes it impossible for you to ever get health insurance. Meaning if you’re born with an ailment or they deem it pre-existing, you better hope your parents have good health insurance and that you aren’t denied. People who even have good health insurance can still be denied treatment.

A lot of babies are going to die. But you know, they claim to want to protect unborn fetuses! They still do! They ‘deserve life’. So long as they are born 'normal’.

Pokemon have physical differences between male and female. Pikachu is far less subtle in its gender differences. Females have a heart shape tip to their tail, while males have that v shape.

I hate this. Things like this scare the shit out of me. Yes a parent should be protective. No they should not STALK their child. Yes a parent can get upset at a child. No they should not flip out or let their anger make them out of control, or take out their anger on their child. Yes a parent can lecture and maybe the kid feels like their parent is driving them crazy - but after the last two statements forgive me if I don’t exactly trust these definitions. A parent should never be their child’s worst nightmare. A pain sometimes, ok, but not a nightmare. And the idea of a parent “stalking” and “hunting down” their child is horrifying. If you were a good parent, maybe your child would have communicated whereabouts upfront with you already. And the last statement is the worst. “I will subject you to terror and treat you like my property…. Because I love you!” No one would ever put up with this from a partner, a friend, even a grandparent…. Why is it suddenly okay from a parent?

Fuck toxic parenting.

That graphic is basically acting like emotional and psychological abuse is okay as long as it’s framed as “it’s because I love you.” Which is basically part of the abuse cycle.

Will never understand how they can consistently vote for the rich to get richer at the cost of their own financial stability, and continuously parrot bullshit talking points while Republicans destroy the economy, the job market, and leave everyone who isn’t rich underpaid, uninsured, and with their rights stripped. It takes a special kind of delusion to vote conservative when you’re anything but rich.

These people legitimately want to protect the rich because “I’ll be rich someday, maybe, and I don’t anyone taking my money.” But the system is rigged by these very rich people, and anybody who thinks the rich want anyone else to become rich and will play fair and set up fair rules is, again, delusional.

Ok this is cute but this octopus is living in a brick… Stop polluting our oceans

This brick probably is just junk but it’s worth noting that sometimes “pollution” seen in footage like this isn’t actually garbage. There’s a lot of organizations that take old cars, ships, etc and strip all the paint and other harmful components and then place it in the bottom of the sea for new coral reefs to grow on. Besides that there will unfortunately always be pollution and I would rather it be a brick an octopus can make a home from than plastic bags that sea creatures will die from eating.

Artificial reefs are pretty cool!

They’re often used to provide habitats for corals, fish, and other marine life where the natural ocean floor has been eroded or disturbed by human use. They can be purpose-made like those reef balls up there, or they can be made out of recycled objects like cinderblocks.

While not all human-made materials are safe for reef use (tires used to be a popular choice, but then it was discovered that not only do they not stay put, they tend to leech toxins), sometimes marine life doesn’t actually care- they adapt to what we put in the water. A good example of that is the Rigs-to-Reef program, which takes offshore oil platforms and decommissions them by turning them into artificial reefs. While oil platforms are in use, sea life congregates around them, so instead of abandoning these platforms or removing them, which would disrupt what has become the “new normal” for these animals, they’re toppled and coral grows on them. 

Anyways, I realize that I’ve totally derailed the awesome octopus and its teddy bear, but I just think that artificial reefs are neat! 

last night i went out to a bar with a few friends and i got in one of those situations where a guy introduced himself and offered to buy me a drink and everyone else just kind of fell away so it was me and this guy i’d just met at a table talking. i felt totally comfortable and didn’t visibly need an out or anything, but on FOUR separate occasions girls that i don’t even necessarily know that well came up to me and were like “hey, maddie’s looking for you! wanna come find her with me?” or “hey, we’re heading to the bathroom wanna come?”. and i was fine so i just said “no im good, thanks!!” but it helped me realize so much that that’s the shit we need more of: girls looking out for girls, for no reason other than to check in. i appreciated it so much, and it made me realize how nice it is to have the option to leave if you need it. i just thought it was really great and it made my heart happy and i wanted to share it with you all. check in on your girlies, always. we gotta be there for each other :) 

The same thing is done with racing horses. Except that they use a goat. [x]

I think I’ve reblogged like 4 different versions of this but I don’t care. This is despicable and it needs to be stopped. Give them hell.

So yeah.

An additional thought- to anyone out there who’s anti self-diagnosis, this is one of the reasons why professional diagnosis can be too huge of a risk for so many people. 

This list includes ADD, anorexia, anxiety, autism, depression, OCD, panic disorder, schizophrenia, seasonal affective disorder- and, if all of those didn’t cast a wide enough net already, the vague entry of ‘mental health issues’ is in there just to make sure to catch as many people as possible.

Having an official diagnosis can be extremely helpful for some but it can also be extremely hazardous for others.

So, the House passed the Fuck You bill. Obviously, they know that it won’t be popular with voters. They’re hoping that the story will be “GOP proves it can govern! Did a thing!” instead of “GOP votes to murder millions!” They made the bill as far right as they could so they’d be able to pick up enough conservative votes and keep just enough of the moderates. And it worked. They’re hoping this will give them the political momentum they need to get other shit done.

So, what do? Remember what’s most important to most politicians- re-election. Sure, your senators will probably listen to some intern tell them about all the angry phone calls telling them to kill the bill. But what they’re really paying attention to is how much shit the GOP reps will catch for their vote.

If you want to really convince your GOP senator to vote against the healthcare bill, you have to convince your senator that it would be career suicide to vote for it. The GOP senators are looking right now at what’s happening to the GOP reps who voted for it. So, our job is to make those reps fear for their political lives.

Show up at town halls and chant SHAME. Show up outside their district offices and yell. Call your House Rep and make sure they know they just lost your vote forever, that they just signed the death warrant of you and people you love, and that you will do everything in your power to prevent their re-election. Donate to the funds at swingleft.org, which raises funds to flip specific GOP districts in 2018. Then, call the rep whose district you donated to flip (preferably your rep) and tell them that you just paid money to see them out of congress. Call your senator and tell them that voting for that bill means that you will pay to see them lose their jobs.

The GOP is testing the waters and making a gamble that the political value of passing something will outweigh the blowback. Their future actions- and votes- are going to be calculated based off of the result of this gamble. So, priority #1 is BLOWBACK. make it clear to them that the risks of voting for shit like this far outweigh the benefits. 

Also, apparently the democrats literally started singing “na na na na na na na hey hey  hey goodbye” at the republicans when they passed the bill. I mean, talk about petty, but ya know. that’s the sentiment.
