Hey, I'm Holly! A 28 year old trans woman. Minors do not interact, please.

God. The added irony of the nft craze happening at the same time when picrew was at the height of its popularity. you could pay several thousands for the prestige of owning one of many rangomly generated jpegs or you could costumize your very own little character for free on the internet with a costumizer that was made by a decent fucking artist

is it just me or has 2023 been a horrible year for websites

i remember reading something awhile back about how every site, regardless of it's cultural impact or userbase, will always expire eventually and become a hostile, unusable ground as shareholders and people in charge do their best to "innovate"; progress for the sake of progress; just wring the last remaining drops of profit from it all. and it's like. well. i think shit might be starting to speed up on this front

New hairstyle “monkhawk” which is like the tonsure of a medieval European monk gelled to stick straight up forming a basket-like shape

My favourite thing about spiderverse is that mileses parents were constantly telling him 'you know you can tell us anything we'll still love you the same'

BOY THEY THINK YOUR GAY

Found another idiotic accounting mistake from my predecessor that I have to fix and I was like "WILL THE SPECTER OF THAT MAN'S INCOMPETENCE EVER CEASE TO HAUNT ME" and my coworker was like "Why do you talk like that"

I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

"I despise your wretched little games" perfectly conveys how I feel about the entire algorithm/attention economy

I love post like "you all are against rich people until they're a fictional character" because it's completely true. I am against rich people until it's a fictional character. I don't think liking Scrooge McDuck makes someone a class traitor

anyways (I say this as someone who is deeply critical of the united states government, military, unchecked capitalism, police, etc) I am SICK of people treating america as if it has no cultural value or positives so….. I love u 85 million acres (bigger than italy) of national parks. I love u harlem renaissance. I love u groundhogs day. I love u sweet tea and fried chicken and jambalaya. I love u apple cider donuts and maizes on crisp autumn days. I love u 95k miles of coastlines and new england fisherman and hand knitted sweaters. I love u halloween where millions of people dress up and give candy to strangers and carve jack o’lanterns. I love u small talk and small towns and potlucks and bringing over casseroles to your struggling neighbors. I love u cowboys and ranch hands and arizonian cactus. I love u appalachian trail and dirtbikes and divebars. I love u sparklers and fireflies. I love u mark twain and toni morrison and emily dickinson and henry david thoreau. I love u rock n roll i love u bluegrass and hippies i love u jimi hendrix and nirvana and CCR and janis joplin. I love u victorian houses and jonny appleseed and john henry and mothman and bigfoot. I love u foggy days in the pacific northwest and neon signs and roadside attractions. I love u baseball and 1950s diners and soft serve. I love u native american art and pop art and poptarts. I love u blue jeans and barbecues and jazz musicians

For y’all in the notes saying “well actually rock n roll and the food here were made by marginalized communities who were discriminated against” I hate to break it to you but you’re like two steps away from saying “well black people and Mexicans aren’t actually American the same way white people are” because whatever the reason, whether it was through oppression or not, BIPOC have influenced American culture an incredible amount and it’s so disrespectful and racist to say they don’t actually count as Americans

American culture isn’t exclusively white culture. American culture is far deeper and more diverse than that.

the r/curatedtumblr -> tumblr migration is so funny to me. it's like going to the zoo and enjoying it so much you climb into the enclosure to live with the monkeys

this reply evokes such an incredible image in the mind’s eye

anne carson: simple moving poem about awkward dinners with not-quite-friends and the ennui that comes with realizing this mundane unhappiness is all adult life is sometimes

insane people on twitter: has she ever tried being happy? i like going to dinner with friends, what’s wrong with her? she can afford to go out to dinner, she shouldn’t complain. just be a cooler hang, skill issue. this isn’t my exact experience (i like my friends) therefore this poem is bad and unrelatable and pretentious. she can’t debone a fish? loser.

going through the quote tweets with my jaw hanging

The poem's about feeling disconnected and rejected, and the audience stumble over themselves to avoid connecting with it and to reject it. I kind of like how closely the sad fictional world of the poem and the callous reality dovetail together 💔

#i would never be sad i would never be sad i would never be sad <- internal monologue of the commentary

This misses the funniest part of one of the stupidest things I've seen on Twitter in a long time, all the zoomers who thought by "Nick and Nora" she meant "and the Infinite Playlist"

more and more of the '"if you don't have fun the way I do then you're a joyless monster who hates fun" crowd, i see. I'm guessing (but might be wrong) that the bit about the fish is because fish is often served boneless to older diners as a safety precaution?
