If iggy azalea claims that bisexuals aren’t real bisexuals unless they can prove that they’ve dated more than one gender then going under that same logic I can conclude that iggy azalea isn’t a real rapper unless she proves that she can actually rap

The teen pregnancy rate has been cut in half since the 1950s. #ThisGeneration

Smoking has also dropped by 50% #ThisGeneration

The abuse and availability of drugs has actually been in drastic decline. #ThisGeneration

The U.S. homicide rate is currently the at lowest it has been since 1962. #This Generation

Searches for porn have been reduced by half in just the past ten years. #ThisGeneration

The average IQ score has seen a dramatic increase, mainly due to our increasing ability to process symbols. #ThisGeneration

The high school dropout rate is at half of what it was in the 70’s. #ThisGeneration

But somehow the last generation remains largely convinced that we are bad and stupid people because they cannot comprehend advances in technology and society. #LastGeneration

Meeting your con friends out of costume

Literally the most accurate post

THIS IS THE ONLY TIME “CON FRIENDS” LITERALLY HAS TWO MEANINGS AT ONCE, AND BOTH ARE PERFECTLY ACCURATE AND APPLY.

To donate £5 to the charity supporting the male victims of domestic abuse, text the message: MKDV46 to 70070

At first I though this was a joke

Don’t ignore this Tumblr

Yet they still do even when it’s right in their face.

This reminds me of how a friend of mine was abused by the mother of his child. She was mentally unstable and used to berate him constantly and would smack him in the head all the time. It really pissed me off. Then one night she threw hot coffee in his face and tried to stab him with a screwdriver. The cops hauled him off to jail because she made up a sob story that painted herself as the victim.  Once he left her, he stayed with me and it was a nightmare. She stalked him and me. She would drive by my house obsessively at all hours of the day and night (her muffler made a weird sound so I know it was her). She started showing up at my job, showing up at the places I frequented around town, and filling up my voicemail with dead air. The cops were no help. One day she got bold enough to talk her way into my home by conning my elderly grandmother, whom I was taking care of, while I was out. She went in my room and went through my stuff (creepy), then found him napping on the couch and attacked him. My grandmother witnessed the whole thing. He grabbed her by the arms, forced her out the front door, and locked it. The cops were called again. They said they’d go and ‘talk’ to her.

The next day we were watching a movie and there was a knock at the door. The police had come to arrest him. She filed a complaint against him and shown off some bruises on her arms from the altercation that she swore were completely unprovoked. My grandmother saw the whole thing since she was in the living room too and testified on his behalf. He still ended up serving jail time. No one takes male domestic violence victims seriously. They only see males as perpetrators.

i was so scared to read the comments because fucking tumblr but im really happy i did. domestic violence/abuse should not be tolerated no matter what your sex/age/religion etc.

spread this like mother fucking wildfire

Isn’t it nice how people twist their religious scripture to suit their weds but when it’s used against them it’s suddenly not okay

I talked to a monk about this quote once (we have mutual friends, and he came to a New Year’s Eve party at my shared art studio). He said this isn’t even talking about homosexuality. That the bible never actually says homosexuality is wrong. What that passage means is this:

Women were treated as subservient and it that you shouldn’t treat other men as subservient, like they are beneath you. It is not talking about homosexuality. If it was, it would say it outright since the bible lists other things outright.

I take the word of a monk who have studied the bible extensively more than a self proclaimed Christian.

The above text, I would like to point out is from the point of view of this translation of the original Hebrew. I spoke with my cousin’s rabbi on the matter and his response was different, saying that it was a mistranslation. See, the true translation says that a man shall not lie with another in the bed of a woman, which is to say, the Hebrews had a shit ton of rules about when a man was or was not allowed in a woman’s bed and private quarters (including, if she didn’t want you there, you weren’t allowed there. Hebrew women were also allowed to divorce their husbands and the image of the ‘oppressive Hebrew people’ is an image that was propogated by Christianity which, historically speaking, doesn’t treat the Jewish people too well and liked to paint them as being rather barbaric and backwards and cultish with their traditions, which, another piece of fun info, their traditions were one of the main reasons why the Jewish people were less likely, in medieval times, to die of the plague. Because washing your hands and avoiding the dead and vermin and the like was a lot of help. Of course the Christians persecuted them for not dying but that’s another matter. I’m sidetracked). So the verse is literally saying ‘Don’t fuck in some lady’s bed because that’s just goddamn rude’

Also, whenever a Christian brings the book of Leviticus up, you should feel free to point out that these are rules that were given to make the Hebrew people prepared for when the son of God came to earth. In Christianity, it’s believed the son of God was Jesus. So by following the rules set in Leviticus or pushing them as things we should follow, they’re saying that Jesus was not the son of God, and that Jesus did not, in fact, die for our sins. Jewish people believe, in their faith, that the son of God hasn’t yet been born, so many choose to follow these rules.

Most people of course roll their eyes when I explain the translation of the verse (full breakdown found here) but it’s always fun to point out the nature of the rules in Leviticus and the implications of following them.

I’m a theology student and I am on the verge of crying because of how accurate this commentary is. Historical context is simultaneously the most interesting and most important part of interpreting any texts.

Most religious people seem to base their beliefs on things that are severely mistranslated. I wish they would do their research before using the bible for hate.

I studied theology extensively and was going to become a theologist until I switched majors. The above commentary is 100% accurate and what I try to stress in a lot if conversations with Bible Thumpers.

Jesus also affirms the homosexual relationship between the Roman Centurion and his “slave”. The particular Greek word used to refer to this special slave was “pais”. Greek language studies and contexts show that a “pais” was a male love slave. Regular slaves were called “dolos”. The Centurion makes this distinction clearly when he asks Jesus to heal his slave (pais), and then to prove his status he tells Jesus that his slaves (dolos) go when he tells them to. But this slave (pais) was special. He was the Centurion’s lover.

Hearing this, Jesus was so amazed he says he had not found ANYONE ELSE who had such great faith. He then blesses the Centurion and heals his male lover.

Matthew 8:5-13

THIS IS WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY TEACHES ABOUT SAME SEX COUPLES.

In short, the English adaptation is a mistranslated farce.

Eric Harris, who was unarmed, died an hour later after what Tulsa, Oklahoma police officials called a “mistake.” According to several news sources, On April 2nd, the victim had reportedly tried to sell a gun to undercover cops and fled on foot as they attempted to arrest him. A video camera captured him, wearing dark shorts and a t-shirt, running up a sidewalk. Harris was quickly caught and subdued. That’s when a 73-year-old volunteer patrolman, Robert Bates, “allegedly” reached for his Taser, but grabbed “accidentally” grabbed his gun instead. According to Tulsa World, Bates, who has donated thousands of dollars worth of items to the Sheriff’s Office since becoming a reserve deputy in 2008, is a Tulsa insurance company executive. He was working undercover as a member of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force. The World reported that “Bates is classified as an ‘advanced reserve,’ which means he ‘can do anything a full-time deputy can do.’”

Rather than immediately render aid, the officers held Harris down by his neck as a deputy screamed, “Fuck You! You shouldn’t have f*cking ran!”

As Eric Harris lay mortally wounded, face down on the pavement, he begged for his life. “He shot me!” Harris shouted. “He shot me, man. Oh, my god. I’m losing my breath.”

“F*ck your breath!” the officer yelled.

Capt. Billy McKelvey said the officers were not aware the suspect had been shot, despite the unmistakable sound of the gunshot noise. Bates “made an inadvertent mistake,” he said.

The New York Daily News reported that no further investigation is planned, unless requested by the sheriff’s office.

BUT CAN WE GET INTO THE FACT THAT THIS PIECE OF SHIT WAS A FUCKING VOLUNTEER COP! Wow…just wow. Another George Zimmerman.

So I got a text from a wrong number the other day and I decided to mess with them because I'm a terrible person...

I figured that they’d eventually text cancel, but they never did

Then I decided to change things up a bit

I don’t even know who this girl is, but she apparently thinks Cap’s birthday is kool

I figured, why not add another Avenger to the mix?

Then I said, what the heck, I’ll just send stuff about all of them

At that point, I knew this person was great (and I’m guessing she probably has a tumblr) but I wasn’t expecting them to respond at all, let alone in those amazing one word responses.

Why "The Hunger Games" matter.

The Mockingjay? A poor girl.

The guy who saved her life? A generous black poor boy.

Her first inspiration to be the Mockingjay? A sweet black poor girl.

The person who transformed the heroine into the Mockingjay? A talented black man.

District 13 president? A determined woman.

District 13 chief of security? A kind-hearted black man.

District 13 chief of technology? An extremely intelligent black man. In a wheel chair.

Panem’s next president, which will also bring back democracy? A woman. A black one. A very courageous and fair one.

The best TV director from the Capitol? A talented woman.

Her main assistent? A black man.

One of the camera men? A mute poor guy.

OMG AN WHITE, STRAIGHT (?), CISGENDER (?) GUY! But nah, he was a poor one. Still a minority.

Just like Gale.

And Peeta (also, he doesn’t have a leg, but we’re talking movie *sigh*, so…).

And the character who was forced into prostitution was… a guy, not a girl.

Wait, where are the [irony] good men [/irony], the white, middle/rich class, cisgender, straight ones, not disabled, not opressed ones? Here’s one:

I know there have been white-washing and I know it’s still not perfect at all. But way to go, The Hunger Games. That’s why this series means so much to me.

Feminism means every woman has the right to choose how she wants to dress..

Don’t tell other women how to dress, mind your own fucking business!

YES.

look

i’m a veiled muslim girl and let me tell you something

i wore the veil because I WANTED to, not because someone forced me. our holy book states that once you get your period, you should cover your hair. some women are 60 and still haven’t worn it. when i reached puberty, i went to my parents and I TOLD THEM that i want to wear it. my parents thought it was too early, but i insisted because this is something that i feel is right.

so don’t go on saying that we’re oppressed. some families do oppress the females, but we’re not ALL like that.

not every woman wearing a veil is oppressed. we just chose to wear that veil like you chose to wear that tiny black dress last night. if a woman is free to not cover up her body, then why is she not free to cover it up, too?

IF A WOMAN IS FREE TO NOT COVER UP HER BODY, THEN WHY IS SHE NOT FREE TO COVER IT UP, TOO?

Please reblog if you think it's wrong for a 50 year old man to check out a 14 year old

My stepfather thinks it’s okay to sexualize girls my sister’s age and I’m trying to prove a point because he doesn’t seem to think that’s wrong

you had better fucking keep an eye on him, holy shit

And the winner of the best Halloween costume goes to.. Peter Pan and his shadow!

Wish I had a twin to do this with!

Ummm pretty sure this is racist

I’m sorry, what colour is your shadow then, orange?!

LMFOOOOO

this is racist and disgusting

Not racist! How can a shadow even be the source of racism- firstly shadows don’t have a race, and secondly, everyone’s is the same bloody colour- black!

People just lookin’ for reasons to be mad

I am black, and this is not blackface. This is full body paint. This is not racist because he is a shadow. Do not try and be a social justice blogger with false fire and false information. Do not think you are doing a service when you are actually proposing false accusations.

YES IT’S BACK ON MY DASH THIS IS MY FAVORITE VIDEO

this is potentially really important:

I have someone staying in my hotel tonight that made me think that this would be worth sharing here.

If you are running away/trying to hide from someone that is frightening, abusing, harassing you, and you find yourself staying in a hotel to avoid being found, there’s an extra precaution you can take.

When you check in, ask the front desk clerk to put you as “Unlisted”. They’ll know what you’re talking about. What this means is that as far as anyone other than you and the front desk clerks are concerned, you’re not there. If someone tries to call for you and your room, “I’m sorry. I don’t have anyone registered under that name.” Same thing goes for it someone shows up at the desk. “Unlisted” means you’re untouchable.

Please, please, if you find yourself in trouble and seeking refuge in a hotel, do this. It’s really quick, easy, and painless for the front desk clerk to do, and they are not going to judge you for it.

Tip from a hotel receptionist: (I work for the Green and Blue ending in Express- hotels will vary but this is generally a Thing hotels do.)

If you tell the front desk you do not wish to be contacted, they can and will put a note to everyone else who works there that unless you SPECIFICALLY say that a certain person is allowed to call/come up to your room, they will not let ANYONE near your room- ID will be checked for that person for your safety. If someone asks for you by name that isn’t allowed to know you’re there, the staff will simply say “There is no one here by that name.” If they press, the staff will insist no one is there and they need to leave. Also, housekeeping will be informed of your desire to be left alone and will announce at the door that they are housekeeping, for your peace of mind.

A good tip is to have someone else drive you to the hotel if you’re able- that way your harasser cannot find your car and wait by it for you. Also, if you CAN, stay in a hotel where all the room are indoors- usually smaller indoor hotels do not let non-guests past the lobby, especially if they ask for someone/someone’s room number. Third floor helps, too- at my hotel, we usually put people who are hiding from abusers on the third floor at the end- since you can’t enter the side doors without a key and the elevator is in the middle of the hotel. Always check to see if the outside doors are key-access only, and make sure you know where the elevators are, and see if you can get a room closer to the more secure area!

Also, if you know their car, or the car of anyone they know and might use, tell the receptionist, especially if you think they may come looking for you. Tell the receptionist what it looks like. If you see it, or if they see it circling the hotel or in the parking areas, they can and will call the police if you need them to. I myself have called the police to chase off an abuser who wouldn’t stop circling the hotel.

Sadly, this is not an uncommon thing, and since I started working at a hotel, I’ve seen my hotel shelter no less than six people fleeing from abusers/stalkers etc, but everyone at the front desk was accommodating and protective- just let the staff know you’re at risk, and they’ll do everything they can to keep you safe.

How about we tax the church?

And how about we put an end to politicians and extremely rich people weaseling out of paying their taxes?

Or we cut the military budget because we put more money into that than anything else in our country COMBINED?

Doing those thingsmight generate a lot of money to make education free and pay teachers more.

But no, no one wants to do that. The politicians will not be filthy rich with money they’re never gonna spend thats just gonna sit in banks forever and we cant have that for…some reason? Oh yeah… greed.

Basically fuck OP they dont know what theyre talking about.

Good to see you back on good form AFPE :)

Imagine being a kid in school. Your teacher comes up with an idea for class picture. Every student will draw pictures of their friends.

Everyone starts drawing enthusiasticly, and can’t wait to see what they look like in the drawings. When pictures are ready you notice that popular students have more pictures than rest, but nobody has done a drawing of you. The teacher notices that too, and asks if someone would do your picture. To your horror the class clown takes the job, and comes up with a caricature of you. Others are laughing, but you’re not. You feel awful. The teacher notices that. and asks again someone to do a drawing of you. One of the ‘good students’ starts drawing, but the result is forced. It’s just a drawing of a generic child wearing a shirt of same color as you a wearing. There’s no spirit, no soul in it. You start sensing that the class is geting frustrated with you. They want to be done with this. You ask quietly the teacher if you could do a drawing yourself.

After school your classmates confront you. Why did you have to make such a big deal out of it? The first picture was funny. The second picture was just fine! The drawing you did yourself wasn’t right, do you think you are that good-looking? There were other kids who got only one or two pictures of themselves. Who are you to demand special treatment? Maybe there would have been a picture of you if you weren’t such annoying baby, nobody likes you anyway, and nobody’s going to if you keep on being like that, you don’t deserve a drawing!

This could be story of bullying, but it’s also about how I see portraying LGBTQ+-people and PoC in mainstream entertainment.

Thanks to Fandoms and Feminism for inspiration!

This is a great metaphor.

This is the most accurate fucking post I’ve ever seen in my life oh my god.
