Today is the last day of Chubby Cartwheels. I’ve had my shop for 9 years now but I’ve been making and selling fat fashion for over 10 here in PDX. It was my dream since I was a plus-size little teen to create fun clothing options for us all to wear. Because it was 1996 and we had like 2 stores. And now I’ve gotten to fulfill and live that dream and it’s been amazing! I’ve meet some of my best friends because of it, poured my blood sweat and tears into it, seen my clothes on TV, national magazine covers, has my pieces in local and international fashion shows and so much more. I can’t even list off all the stuff I’ve gotten to experience, there has been so much! But I’m definitely leaving this chapter on a positive note. I’ll still have this account, I’ll just be changing the name. And I’ll still be sewing and making clothes (mostly for myself now 🥰) , I just won’t have my shop. I’m focusing on other things that I am genuinely looking forward to. So THANK YOU to everyone who ever ordered from me, shared a post, told a friend, came to a show or sent a message of encouragement.. I could not have done any of this without you all and I will never be able to express how much it’s all meant being Chubby Cartwheels. This picture was taken July 4th 2016 while my life was just starting to go through some really big changes so it just felt right to use for this post. 2020 has been wild one for us all, to say the least. With such drastic changes in every day life I know I’ve gained a lot of perspective on things that mean a lot to me and what is important for myself. So with A LOT contemplation and weighing out all options, I’ve decided to close up Chubby Cartwheels by the end of 2020. I’ve loved the past 9 years of this shop, 10 including taking classes to learn pattern making and draping, buying fabrics with what money I had and building my office. It was a dream of mine since I was young when I only had 2 plus size clothing shops to choose from and online shopping didn’t exist yet. I wanted to create a space for other fat babes like myself. And eventually I DID! 🙌🏻 I consider it an absolute honor to have lived my dream for so long, traveling to fabulous events, getting to meet and work with SO many amazing people along the way and having my work featured on local, national and global platforms. My life has been forever changed. But now I’m going to follow a new path for myself. One that I am definitely nervous about but also very excited for. I hope I have your support. ☺️ I will continue making clothes and masks through Dec 31st and then the shop will be closed down. I’ll have some premade pieces for sale and will do limited amounts of custom jobs as well. I hope in these next two months I’m able to clear out my fabric stock, make some super fun and fabulous pieces and go out with a bang.
