Juliet & Scientology
Scientology whether you love it or hate it, it exists. Scientology is currently considered a religion in the United States and Canada, but many people disagree with this status. Personally I don’t believe religion and cults are exclusive, therefore I do believe that Scientology is both a cult and a religion. The Simms’ family moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1994 from San Francisco, California. Juliet takes takes three courses in 1999; Study Skills For Life, Basic Study Manual, and Therapeutic TRS Course. Basic Study Manual and TRS are not required courses, they are commonly suggested by auditors. But Study Skills For Life has little to do with Scientology, and is just indoctrination. The next course Juliet will take is in 2000 at 14 she will do a Personal Values & Integrity Course, this is another introductory course and has little to do with Scientology. Juliet will then go through the Purification Rundown at 15, this is the first course she will take that would really start somebodies journey into Scientology. Her come back is with a course called ‘Method One Word Clearing’ this course is for recovering one’s prior education. In 2005 Juliet attends the Celebrity Centre for a Artist’s Congress. Not really a course, just an event. Remember back in 2005 people didn’t know too much about Scientology wikileaks was not a thing back then (it was actually founded in 2006). Juliet has not since gone back to Scientology since then. Tommy has does one course in 1999 called the 'Hubbard Key To Life Course’ he is 15. His course is actually technically a business course, and it’s main focus is proper communication. Angie does five courses, two in 1999; the Grammar & Communication Course and Study Skills For Life, she is 11. In 2000 she takes Success Through Communication Course, she then takes a almost 5 year break from Scientology. When she returns in 2005 she takes a course named 'Student Volunteer Minister Courses’ at the Celebrity Centre. And then in 2006 she takes an Artist Workshop On Relationships. Jeff takes eight courses from the span of 1978 to 2015. All but two of these course (Student Hat, and Personal Values & Integrity) are high level courses. It is safe to say Jeff is/was deeply involved in Scientology. He appeared in Scientology publications twice. Natalie has taken a whopping 18 courses and in the last 25 years. She has reached the highest possibly level; Clear, and has continued to go have involvement in the Church. It is safe to say that she is deeply involved in the Church of Scientology. She has also appeared in Scientology publications twice with her husband. Now let’s talk about suppressive people. L Ron Hubbard describes a suppressive person as someone who possesses a distinct set of characteristics and mental attitudes that cause him to suppress other people in his vicinity. This is the person whose behavior is calculated to be disastrous. Also called antisocial personality. He uses examples such Adolph Hitler to get his point across. But a suppressive person can also be a person or group that knowingly and willfully seek to destroy Scientology. Even criticizing could land you in trouble with a superior. People who are labelled as suppressive people are actively shunned by there friends and family members that are still in the church. Now what does this have to do with Juliet’s involvement in Scientology? Well Juliet could very well believe that Scientology is bad, even evil but not want to risk being labelled a suppressive person and be shunned by her entire family. In order to keep up this charade she may take courses, and may never say anything about this piece of drama. Can you blame Juliet for not wanting to lose her entire family. For not wanting to stir the pot to much in fear she has secrets spilled about her on Scientology hate sites. Cause if you think tumblr is bad, you’d be impressed by how bad Scientology can be.
Many of us can’t truly empathize with the idea of being disowned, but I can. I’ve felt the hatred that comes from a person’s eyes when you tell them something like “hey mom I don’t believe in Scientology” or “I think it’s bad” or worse not even getting to tell them yourself. The change in behaviour is so distinct and even dislike for that person for the way they are still makes you want to say the right thing. I’d never want Juliet to have to lose her own mother to appease us, to lose her for saying that she thinks Scientology is wrong.
If after all of this you still think that she’s in Scientology and you don’t want to support her, that’s fine. I can’t force you to spend your money or time on somebody you don’t want too. What you should always do though is make an informed decision, know how hard it is for people to leave Scientology will give you a lot more empathy for those trapped in the church.
