Incorporating witchcraft/witchy things into your everyday life

I always get asked tones of questions on how to incorporate witchcraft into your daily routine so here are some ways that you could possibly do so

The tips:

- when you wake up you could burn incense or sage around your house and yourself to cleanse everything for a brand new day

- when drinking drinks like tea or coffee you can use the spoon to mix in a clockwise direction to increase something or anti clockwise to decrease something

- you can also draw a sigil in the bottom of your cup with honey and then add you drink on top

- when baking things with crust you can carve sigils into it to make your food more magickal and be filled with your intent

- set up an altar for your ancestors and pray to it everyday when you wake up or before bed, you can also leave offerings on there

- carry crystals or amulets you have made in your pocket or around your neck for them to work their magick

- enchant things such as makeup brushes or jewellery

- pretty self explanatory but you can write in your book of shadows or grimoire everyday

- have a moon chart which shows the stages of the moon each month and mark when you would like to practise your spells based on what moon phase will be most beneficial

- grow a garden filled with lots of different plants and trees and bushes, everyday go out and spend time in it to clear your mind and become more in tune with your spirituality and intuition

I hope this helped some of you! Feel free to add more suggestions below, happy enchanting ✨

Organizing a Grimoire

🌹~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~🌹

🍁This isn’t needed, if you prefer the write as you go method that’s fine.

🍁For those of us who prefer to have it organized a table of contents is a must.

🍁Try and plan what your going to write down when. If it helps write down in a notebook or in your book of shadows every idea you can think of putting in your grimoire and number them.

🍁It’s ok if it’s not ‘perfect’ chances are this is your first grimoire so not only is ok its natural to make a few mistakes here and there

🍁Write in pencil if you don’t like crossing out mistakes or using tipex

🍁The key thing to remember is that it doesn’t need to look 'Tumblr perfect’ as long as you understand it

I’m not saying this is how you get witches, buuuuut… ✨🌠🔮

Drawing Sigils: My Way

Dedicated to the anon who asked, thank you~ <3

My sigils are basically just a variant of the Witch’s Sigil Wheel. I’ve just added my own flare to it. If you don’t know what that is, it’s this thing, you kind find pictures of it on google pretty easy.

The first thing you’re gonna want to do is come up with your phrase. This will set the sigils intention. We’re gonna use the phrase “The Earth keeps me safe” for this example. Once you’ve got that figured out, pick out the words that are most important to you. We’re going to use “Earth” and “Safe” as our keywords.

(note: traditionally letters that are doubled are taken out, and only single appearing letters make the points.)

Next thing you’re gonna do, is draw lines from one letter to the next. You’ll be making separate lines for each word. Feel free to curve some of these lines, but i think it looks like a mountain or a crystal so we’re gonna keep it c:

And then the next word.

This is really starting to look like a crystal in my eyes! Now it’s time to add some flare. One thing I like to do is add circles around letters that have multiple points on them. And I add crossing lines to any other line that doesn’t have an angle or connection.

To really long lines, I like to add another line parallel to it.

The last part, make it personal! Add some sort of your own flare to it.

I played around with the crystal idea that I was getting, and added things to make it look sparkling and an arrow in the middle to represent protection.

Lastly I like to keep my sigils in circles, but feel free to skip this step and call it done! Here’s what I came up with!

If you make one, please reblog with a picture! I’d love to see ^u^ Hopefully this helps.

What to ask tarot

So tarot card questions are actually a lot different than asking a specific question. You wouldn’t say, for example, “Is my dad going to graduate?” because if you got the 3 of cups, you would be utterly confused as to why I did not provide a yes or a no. So below I am going to list questions that are good to ask the cards.

• I’m at a fork in the road. Which way should I go?

• How do I weigh out the choices I have? What are the Pros and Cons?

• What do I need to know to make the best decision? What do I need to know?

• What do I need to know about a situation with a family member?

• What do I need to know about my love life?

• What do I need to know about my career?

Moving forward

• How do I move forward in my career?

• How do I move forward in my relationship/ love life?

• What is coming forth in my life?

• Which foundation is the strongest to build on in my life?

* What should I do?

• What should/ shouldn’t I do about a situation with my job?

• What should/ shouldn’t I do about a situation with a friend or family member?

• How can I restore my hope for the future?

• What overall positives do I bring to my life?

• What positives do the people in my life provide me?

• Is there meaning in my life?

• Is there love in my life? Hidden Elements

• Are there things I am ignoring that are important?

• What am I not seeing?

• What is holding me back?

• Are there truths that I am denying?

• Are there things that I see that are untrue?

• What important things have I forgotten?

• What could get in my way?

• What is most important for me to get done?

• How will a certain occasion or event turn out?

• What will be the best way for me to communicate with certain people?

• What should I learn from my past?

• What is the impending future telling me?

• What cycles am I stuck in?

• What have a learned from my past?

• Where am I strongest?

• What should I look out for?

I hope this helps!!!!

We’ll see who smites who 👊✨⚡

I’m between jobs currently as my job as an art director at Vox Media was a contract position and just ended. I am doing my best to remain zen. However, I do need help. Here are some ways to buy my art, all of which will help to support me currently so I maybe don’t starve 🤞 Main collection of my art for sale

If you enjoy shopping for art on prints, tapestries + a plethora of other items on Society6, I have a fairly large presence there too

The tapestries on Society6 are really nice and I highly recommend them since they are not only machine washable but also cover large expanses of wall.

My Arctic photos are also for sale: Arctic expedition photos

Two books of mine were published in the past 5 years which contain my prose and photography.

The book nearest and dearest to my heart is New York in the Snow which is the culmination of 7 years of walking up to 8 miles in every snowstorm in NYC trying to distill feelings of nostalgia, loss, longing, isolation, and isolation. New York in the Snow

My first book is a general collection of my earlier prose and photos of the New York City skyline, cityscapes, and seasonal moments.  NY Through the Lens

You can also find both books on the Barnes and Noble website. If you are in NYC, my books are available at The Strand and I will be going and signing the copies of my books there starting this week (December 8th) in case you are looking for a signed copy.

I license my work out for film, print, television, book covers, games, music media + digital use.

Additionally, this time of year I am always more than happy to license my photos for usage for holiday cards + other related (or non-related) merriment If you are thinking about licensing my work for any of the above scenarios, feel free to reach out to me at my email: viv@nythroughthelens.com

Thank you for your positive thoughts, energy, and kindness. It’s all appreciated and any help means the world always but especially right now since I am in a liminal job space.
