Hi darling,

Oh, that's cool! Same as me, then! :)

im sorry to be THAT person and do this thing under this post (secret please if you have a problem with that tell me and i'll take this down immediately) but i don't really think he's an infp. i am an infp, too, so i should know.

if he took the 16Personalities test i'm not at all surprised, it basically mistypes people for a living because it doesn't take into account cognitive functions which are the very core of mbti.

to put it reaaally really simple, if he indeed was an infp he would use Ne (which is Extroverted Intuition) as his auxiliary function, and that would mean that he would be open-minded, open to change, flexible, very creative and imaginative. he would be, stereotypically, a daydreamer. INFPs also tend to be very abstract, they're idealists and have a strong moral compass. i just can't see dream being any of that on main.

he himself said his biggest weakness is being single-headed, george agreed saying that he always gets caught up on one thing and he spends a lot of time on it to the point of exhaustion. this is a not a typical Ne user behaviour, but it IS a typical weakness for Ni (Introverted Intuition, basically the opposite of Ne) users, and i'm positive dream is one of them. (it's also a common aspect for people with ADHD to get caught up in one thing and fixate on it but there's no need to elaborate on that here)

i think dream may be an INTJ, which is often mistyped as ISFP or INFP because they too have Fi (Introverted Feeling) as one of their cognitive functions, and Fi can result even more relevant if the person in question is in a Ni-Fi loop, but i don't want to dive on that bc this post would become way too long and hard to follow; i want to mantain this as easy and elementary as possible! the only thing you need to know rn is that INTJs have Ni as their dominant ("most used", the most developed) function.

to explain the new entered function as simple as i want it to be, i will just use funkymbtifiction's entertaining, but very accurate dialogue:

Dominant Ni (INXJ): No, I haven’t learned this before. I just know how to do it, that’s all. Let me guess what that means… am I right? Yes! I knew it! You can’t ask me to stop thinking about the future; I think about it all the time! That person is going to do that, and this will happen as a result. I am not wrong. You wait and see. (Told you!) I don’t like this, it didn’t happen the way I anticipated it would! No, I don’t want to change my plan at the last minute! How can I fix this? Where did I go wrong? I have a creative way to explain this process to you! Interpreting symbolism comes easily to me. Visualizing my goals, and my future, makes me happy and energizes me! I can see where I want to be, and where I am, and come up with each step necessary to reach my dreams.

sounds familiar, doesn't it?

in addition,

some INTJ stereotypical traits that remind me of dream are: being confident, the tendency and the passion he has to learn all kind of stuff, being a long-term goal seeker, being ambitious and a perfectionist.

some INTJ non-stereotypical traits that remind me of dream are: being good at socialising (not necessarily fond of doing that but good anyway), empathetic and sympathetic to others' pain, petty, very good and attentive with his words, nice and polite.

now, i've been in this fandom for a little bit, and i don't know dream that well. i could be extremely wrong in my perception of him, and if you feel like i wrote something that it's just not him, go on and correct me! just please be nice about it bc i hate confrontation + i'm insecure and negativity (even sparks of it) throws me under a train (metaphorically) ♡

i'm also sorry if it turns out to be confusing or too complex, mbti is very hard to explain and i speedran this post bc sadly im a very busy student with a very busy life. if you want some more in-depth look just ask me and i will provide you with links and further explanations! i'm very passionate about mbti if you couldn't tell :')

i hope this was at least a tiny bit interesting and, i don't know, helpful?

Akutagawa will be fine

I don’t think there are many people who think he won’t be, but just in case.

Besides BSD being the manga where No One Dies (which fits because the theme is about the value of life), it doesn’t fit his character arc or the framing of the scene. Fukichi showed us just this chapter that he can use his sword to rewind time, so it’s possible that will happen, or Yosano will somehow pop up, or Atsushi gets the book page and alters reality.

But in an abstract theorizing way, what I think would be most interesting is if Atsushi–who is supposedly somehow linked to the Book–manages to somehow transfer his regeneration power to Akutagawa. Why I think this would be cool and fit the scene is because Akutagawa just lent Atsushi his ability for a second time, so Atsushi figuring out how to lend his own ability to Akutagawa would make a lot of sense. It would symbolically enforce the notion of shin soukoku not only making each other physically stronger, but bringing healing to each other and thereby to their world, as I think we all know the story is going.

Oh and his lungs? He’ll be fine, whether he’s healed of that now or because he joins the ADA in the end and Yosano gets to work on him. You don’t introduce a terminal illness in a character mid-series–that has to be either at the very beginning or very end, and it has to be clear from the beginning where it’s going. (Basically, this whole thing gives me Tokyo Ghoul flashbacks to when Kaneki was told he was aging and about to die in another few years, but he actually ended up being fine because the theme of the series was “live, even if it’s not stylish.”) Akutagawa confessing this is setting it up as something to be solved, not to run its course.

Pacing aside, the narrative of this scene condemns Akutagawa’s fatalism. It braids it with the notion of Akutagawa needing Dazai’s approval, which we already know is a flawed desire that he needs to overcome; hence, we’re told to associate the fatalism and supposed terminal illness with a line of thinking that needs overcoming. Secondly, this fatalistic line of thinking drives Akutagawa to act as he does this chapter… aaaand it literally results in him getting slashed across the throat. It’s almost like the narrative is saying that this way of thinking, this acceptance of coming death, isn’t really a positive thing. Thirdly, we link Akutagawa’s words about his future death with the current fatal-appearing wound he receives, which is almost certainly not actually going to be fatal, so again, we presume that he should overcome that illness as well as this wound.

Fukichi is on my shit list though.

About sand and new relationships;

shin soukoku week, day 1; B5

Atsushi and Akutagawa's volleyball match was stopped by an overly-excited Dazai who, by seeing them actually enjoying their time together, decided to take a picture to commemorate the moment.

Little did he know (or did he, really?) the two young men have been secretly dating for the past couple of months.

hello! i'm a recently made art blog leaded by a very insecure artist who just now decided it was about time to post some of her art on here. I really, really wanted to partecipate to the sskk week so i thought there was no better reason to man up and start posting my art!

this is my first time trying digital coloring so sorry if it looks bad (like, really bad)

How to Get to Know Your Characters

@lourek asked:

Okay so it’s me again. I have a problem, cuz I really don’t know my characters?? And I’d like to get to know them. I know this might sound stupid, but do you have a masterpost about best ways to get to know your own characters or would you be willing to make one? I’ve noticed that all those “answer these questions” things are pretty useful. Thank you, I still worship you, good bye

Not a stupid question at all!  This is one of the most challenging and important parts of becoming a writer.  Getting to know someone takes time and effort, and characters are no exception.

So without further ado, here are my go-to techniques for getting to know a character:

1.  Ask yourself these basic questions:

  • How old are they mentally/spiritually?  Do they have an old soul, or are they a perpetual kid at heart?  Does their personality not coincide with their physical age?
  • What do they care about most in the world?  What would they die for?
  • What are their interests?  What books, movies, and shows do they read/watch religiously?  What do they geek out over?
  • What’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to them?  Have they told anyone?  If so, who?
  • On that note, what is one secret they’ve never told anyone?
  • What was their childhood like?  Was it happy?  Tragic?  Why or why not?
  • How many relationships do they have?  How have they affected them?
  • What is their greatest fear?
  • What was the best thing that ever happened to them?
  • What was the worst thing that ever happened to them?
  • If you had to describe the character in one word, what is the first that comes to mind?

2.  Once that’s done, get nosy.

  • Empty their pockets, backpack, or purse.  Make a list of everything inside.  What do they always take with them?  Why?
  • Describe their bedroom.  Is it neat, or messy?  Is it minimalist?  Cluttered?  Are they neat, or messy by nature?  Is there any artwork on the wall, any posters?  Are there lots of books?  A TV?  Stuffed animals?  Be as detailed as you want to be, and think about why your character has these things and what they say about them.
  • If they have one, describe their car.  What kind of car do they drive?  How does it correlate with their personality, their career?  Do they keep any photos of loved ones?  Are there lots of fast food containers?
  • We’ve already touched on this briefly, but think about their books.  Write down at least ten titles on their shelf.  Think about what genres they like, what authors, and why they might enjoy them.
  • What kind of movie genres do they like?  What kind of TV shows?  Why do they enjoy them?  Do they have any guilty pleasures that they’d rather anyone not know about?
  • Take a look inside their closet.  What kind of clothes do they wear?  What’s their style?  Can they afford the clothes they’d actually like to wear?  Are they preppy?  Is their closet organized, or is it a hot mess?

3.  Get to know the family.

  • What are their parents like?  Do they have a good relationship?  Are they friends?  Do they just plain suck?  If so, why?
  • If they don’t have a good relationship with their parents, are there any parental figures that their close with?  What are they like?
  • Do they have any siblings?  Are they close?  Are they protective of them, or vice versa?
  • What is their nationality?  Do they have strong ties to their heritage, or could they care less?
  • What about their extended family?  Do they have any weird relatives?  (In my opinion, every character should have at least one weird relative.  They are a lot of fun to write.)

4.   Fill in the details.

Brainstorm random questions about your characters, their likes, dislikes, et cetera.  Here are examples:

  • What is their favorite food?
  • Their favorite beverage?
  • Their favorite movie?
  • Their favorite book?
  • Their favorite TV show?
  • What is their dream job?
  • Do they keep a journal?
  • Do they have good handwriting, or is it illegible from excessive note-taking?
  • What’s their favorite color?
  • What’’s their favorite kind of weather?  Do they like sunny days, or rainy ones?
  • Can they draw?  Are they artistic in general?
  • What kind of romantic/sexual partner do they like (if they’re interested in that sort of thing at all)?  Do they have a ‘type?’
  • What would their ideal date be (even just with friends)?  Do they like generic dinner and movie-type stuff, or do they favor museums and plays?
  • What would their ideal afternoon look like?
  • Do they prefer TV or books?
  • Are they introverted or extroverted?  Do they hate social gatherings, or thrive on them?  Do they relish in alone time?
  • Coffee or tea?
  • Cats or dogs?
  • Do they eat breakfast?  If so, what?
  • What’s their opinion on pineapple pizza?

5.  Fill out some character sheets.

Simple character sheets are a great way to fill in the gaps and get to know your character.  Though there are quite a few floating around on my favorite blogs, but here are a few examples:

  • There’s a “lazy person’s” character sheet here.
  • There’s a “how to create a memorable character” sheet here.
  • And there’s a “no effort” character sheet here.

Of course, the only way to truly get to know your character is to write about them.  You never know how they’ll develop until you get going, and once you do, they’ll never cease to surprise you.  Characters truly do gain lives of their own, so don’t give up and keep writing.

And in the meantime, I hope this helps!  <3

for any oc makers out there…

Let bi boys date girls

Who isn’t letting them……

Avatar

Gay boys who see me with a girl and say I shouldn’t be allowed in lgbt spaces because I’m actually really straight

Straight girls who see me as their “gay friend” or who say they don’t care about sexuality but wouldn’t date a boy who’s had sex with a boy

Straight people in general who say “isn’t he really just gay” or telling girls that I’m actually gay and faking it with them

Gay people who say that because I have the option of dating a girl I’m the same as the straight people who oppress our community

Gay people who say I’ll never understand oppression or what it’s like to “actually” be gay

So there’s quite a few people not letting them!!
