#i can and will die on the hill of defending red delicious apples…#a good red delicious apple should be crisp mild and sweet#a lot of cafes and cafeterias and stuff will give out red delicious apples that have gone slightly past prime#hence graininess but i think discarding the entire breed in general bc of that is throwing the baby out with the bath water#sometimes you go to an apple orchard and taste everything there and the red delicious is the only apple that isn’t like shockingly sour#red delicious at their prime are mid-tier at worst. i have no idea where these cafes get the little ones that taste like plastic#but every red delicious i’ve gotten at the grocery store has been good
