Normal cat has pretty much completely adjusted to the new house.
Anxious cat has not. This is not surprising. As much as she’s not a fan of people, she does like me, a little bit, and this has turned into an unprecedented level of neediness on her terms.
For the first week, she hid in the cat tree all day and then at night after she’d had her meds and felt braver, would come out and yowl in the staircase, centrally located to everyone’s bedrooms. She wasn’t eating much the first few days. We switched her meds to the morning, figuring she could yowl during the day and be too scared at night. I also started leaving my bedroom door cracked, so at night she hangs out under the bed and is mostly quiet.
But she’s adjusting. She’s eating normally again and during the day she’s pretty much fine. The nighttime yowling is back, however. She now finds it completely unacceptable that I spend time in the bathroom before bed and gets incredibly loud while I’m brushing my teeth etc. When I come out, she initiates physical contact (like she’ll headbutt my hand or lean into scritches) which she otherwise Does Not Do. I greatly appreciate this, but also holy hell cat, I’m just brushing my teeth please calm down.
