She/her. Tumblr old but I’ve been back since 2020. Absolutely feral for Good Omens. DC. Queer. Infernite. Bit of a nerd in general. Email me at cherrispryte at gmail if you have urgent need of me, though I do not know why you would. Terfs can fuck right off.

Also, because it's Tumblr I have to spell everything out. Use your own personal definition of what constitutes a major versus a minor holiday

My birthday is on or around Labor Day, my sister’s birthday has been on /is around Easter, my father’s is Halloween, my mother’s is International Women’s Day.

More of a stretch but still things I see celebrated- Kid 1’s birthday is Bastille Day, Kid 2 is exactly halfway from Christmas, my partner’s is Bi Visibility day (we’re both queer women) and my godson’s the Summer Solstice.

… Am I Spiders Georg of holiday birthdays?

The Geriatric Millennial website needs a “used to be able to but then I injured myself/got old/stopped wanting to and my tendons are probably healed by now so I no longer can” option.

Was I tottering around my high school in 4 inch heeled Candie’s? Yes. Does gentle wedge sandal currently make my ankle ache upon mere contemplation? Also yes!

Normal cat has pretty much completely adjusted to the new house.

Anxious cat has not. This is not surprising. As much as she’s not a fan of people, she does like me, a little bit, and this has turned into an unprecedented level of neediness on her terms.

For the first week, she hid in the cat tree all day and then at night after she’d had her meds and felt braver, would come out and yowl in the staircase, centrally located to everyone’s bedrooms. She wasn’t eating much the first few days. We switched her meds to the morning, figuring she could yowl during the day and be too scared at night. I also started leaving my bedroom door cracked, so at night she hangs out under the bed and is mostly quiet.

But she’s adjusting. She’s eating normally again and during the day she’s pretty much fine. The nighttime yowling is back, however. She now finds it completely unacceptable that I spend time in the bathroom before bed and gets incredibly loud while I’m brushing my teeth etc. When I come out, she initiates physical contact (like she’ll headbutt my hand or lean into scritches) which she otherwise Does Not Do. I greatly appreciate this, but also holy hell cat, I’m just brushing my teeth please calm down.

Aziraphale steadfastly reminded himself this was a good thing. It hurt like nothing had ever hurt before, but the silver lining was actually bright, and broad, and glistened like diamonds. If he focused on that light ahead, he might not even feel the chill of the rain where it continued to pummel him.

Yes this is a good post in general about masculinity but also -

It has been years since I’ve been in a pit but “pick em up if they fall” is so fundamentally ingrained in my automatic responses that a woman waiting for coffee right in front of me at Pret the other day slipped and was gonna completely wipe out and I grabbed her and kept her upright. And then profusely apologized, because a downtown DC sandwich shop is not a mosh pit and the rules are different but also they are not.

Putting your dromaeosaur in a Snood is a great way to keep them warm in winter AND keep calm during firework displays or thunderstorms!!***

*** we take no responsibility for any injuries sustained while trying to put a dromaeosaur in a Snood

While I am 100% aware that snoods have been around since medieval times (if not earlier?) my internet-broken brain saw “snood” and the image and automatically went “snake hood”.

Help I have a cat sitting on my lap for the first time in almost three months and I can’t stop sobbing.

Our cat who died at the end of January was the lap cat. If you were sitting on the couch he was most likely on your lap. His whole life he’s been like that. I loved it so much.

Our other two cats are not lap cats. One has severe anxiety which we manage the best we can, but she doesn’t willingly get within 3 ft of humans. This one likes people, follows us all around and will sit on another section of the couch while you’re in it but has never before jumped up on a lap.

And yet. Right now. Cat on my lap.

The most popular browsers in different countries in 2012 and 2022.

Nope! When Chrome first came to popularity, people switched over to it cause it was “faster” (turns out, it just eats through your device’s CPU) but since then Firefox has upped its game in a major way. Chrome just doesn’t measure up anymore. Plus, nowadays Chrome is just a data harvester designed to show hyper targeted ads - so even if Firefox ain’t for you, it’s still worth ditching Google for a different browser.

Legit though I switched to Firefox and it’s so so so much better

i’m gonna keep reblogging this ad infinitum so yall might as well convert now

1) Why is there no data on South Sudan?

2) What’s going on in Equatorial Guinea that they’re using Microsoft Edge the most?

Granny Weatherwax and Sam Vimes wouldn’t get on at all, and they’d never admit why, but it’s because they’re too similar. They both have an internal morality more sturdy and unmovable than a mountain, they both know they contain the capacity for great evil, but keep themselves in line with self discipline the likes of which most people couldn’t dream of. They both know about the importance of choice, and of truth, and of autonomy. If either of them were able to look past their aversion to seeing their own reflection, and worked together, they’d be fucking unstoppable.

Something about two of the main Discworld series being focused on these intensely determined, stubbornly moral people just really means a lot to me. You’ve got Moist using his criminal mind to help people, and the wizards doing whatever wizards do, and Death showing kindness to people in their most vulnerable moments. And you’ve got these two, making the world a better place whether it likes it or not. It will get better, or else, they say. Or else you’ll have me to deal with.

I've been spending some quality time on the Discworld lately. And upon re-reading some of the books about The Watch, I had to draw me some Lady Ramkin. No offence to the official illustrators, they're great artists and all, but I could never see what I see when I read when I look at any of the artwork out there. So I made my own.

1. Sybil Ramkin wearing a black dress & black wig, and some family diamonds, looking like the night sky. And winking at Vimes.

2. "It's my bloody dragon!"

3. Almost certain that there won't be any scale growth. Almost.

This is pretty much exactly who I picture in my head for Lady Sybil, well done you!
