International cooperation is actually so effective that most people don’t even notice it happening, and then erroneously believe it can’t solve anything.
Fixing issues before they develop into actual disasters is such an underappreciated thing it hurts at all levels.
We don't talk about acid rain because there isn't any more acid rain because when acid rain started happening and we learned that the cause was mainly sulphur oxide and carbon monooxide from car exhausts, countries all over the world made it a law that car companies had to produce cars that produced less exhaust with better effectivenes (burning the fuel all the way to CO2 instead of the halfassed CO) and oil rafineries to remove the sulphur from the gasoline in the first place.
We don't talk about computers crashing because of the turn of the century, because thousands of programmers worked very hard to write updates and patches for Every Single Program humanity as a whole used back in 1999 and then somehow managed to failtest, distribute, and update every single device and system, be it an online or offline one before the midnight of the 1st january of 2000.
On a much smaller scale, no one ever commenta or notices cleaners and housekeepers doing their job - be it at home or at whole buildings - because they always make sure that there's nothing to notice. But don't be fooled - at any point of your life you are one week of them not doing away from swimming in trash and filth with nothing to eat and nothing clean to wear. Only then you would notice.
Now it's time to do that thing again and make sure that we don't kill our whole planetary ecosystem within the next century.
regular lobsters start out as just little lobsters but spiny lobsters start out as these beautiful weird larvae that also evolved to ride on top of jellyfish. This jellyfish is too small though!!!

Parasitic maggots in the pharynx of a camel! They feed on harmless amounts of blood and seldom cause any irritation to their host.

The black dots aren’t eyes, but breathing spiracles; we’re seeing their butts! Maggots must breathe through their butts because they keep their tiny, pointed heads embedded in food. A maggot is basically a conical organic “drill” with the mouth at its small end!

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Just like baby cats are kittens and baby dogs are puppies, baby mosquitoes are wrigglers! Mosquito larvae are aquatic, and spend most of their time wriggling through the water, hence the term ‘wriggler’. Likewise, mosquito pupae are called tumblers for the way they tumble near the water’s surface.

You can see the mosquito’s whole upper body developing in the tumbler! Those pupa are one of my favorite real life creature designs ever. It’s such a cool appealing shape.
Had a dream where there was a new species of shark found, it was a very very large deep sea shark with a dark grey colouring and it had massive eyes. Not comically so but the eyes were the size of small plates and the pupils on the eyes were about half the diameter of the whole eye so you could see clearly when the shark looked around. And look around it did! It gave me the creeps, I was underwater in near-complete darkness in the dream and the shark swam into the small amount of light I was hanging out in

Ascidians (Animalia - Chordata - Tunicata - Ascidiacea) in Raja Ampat, New Guinea.
Do regular people know by now what tunicates are. Do they know these are animals more related to you than they are to anything else

This is the phylum chordata, which splits into two main branches. One branch contains all of us vertebrates with bones, and the other branch contains some thingies that do not develop bones, but they do develop the same nerve chord that becomes our spinal column, it’s just that when they mature, tunicates absorb it completely and become basically just a bag of flesh.

“Cheap” monsters for DnD players?
I just realized how well EVERY toob works for that but they do also make fantasy creature ones! They have a whole dragons toob and some other mythical animals! A cryptid one and famous aliens would also be great then.
Inktober/Character design day 16!
Not a ton of time today, so I’m holding off on working on the dragon concept in favor of doing another lil DnD character!
Snickery’s parent was a dungeon (older mimics can take of the form of caves, houses, dungeons, etc.) that they were separated from as a teeny baby mimic. As an adult they want to find out about their parent and learn more about mimics in general, but have come to enjoy living amongst non-monsters as well, and try their very hardest to be a brave adventurer! As one might expect, they have a bit of an edge when it comes to dungeoneering.
