MO GUAN SHAN IS A PRE-RAPHAELITE WOMAN

I just had a revelation.

I was just analyzing how future Mo dresses up so prettily.

We always knew he was handsome, since he was asked to model, but never realized how much. And of course He Tian is such a rich bastard who loves pretty things. And I think that Mo has always been aware and quite scared of being the "trophy wife" for rich He Tian.

But in the future he seems to kinda accept his beauty and grew accustomized to it, almost playing with it. He KNOWS he is handsome and he takes advantage of it.

At first to me it seemed like he kinda accepted his fate to be the trophy wife, but knowing him he would have looked defeated by this, but he seems so natural and smug with this shit that this cannot be a coincidence, he totally is a famme fatale who enjoys giving jealous He Tian an hard time.

But his future famme fatale behaviour made me realize one thing... Mo is beautiful, tall, with pale skin, red hair, scarlet lips, sharp features and melancholic expressions. And you know who this adjectives describes? Those willowy pre-raphaelite women. And you know what pre-raphaelite women do? They LURE men by making them falling in love and then they DESTROY them. I'm not saying that Mo will murder He Tian, maybe he will figuratively kill some aspect of him.

But he just exude this fucking powerful aura and we can totally see how much he is in charge in the TianShan dynamic. He EMPOWERS He Tian, and He Tian cannot do more than to fall limp in his charms like putty in Mo's hands.

Mo canonically is like those "fallen woman" (who, for the majority of time, were witches, mistresses or low-ranking swindlers) those female models were uneducated and from the working-class but bolder and more self-assured than their high-class equivalent.

But the most interesting thing to me is that we can see He Tian not as the victim of the famme fatale who is being toyed with, but as the artist himself. He is just like those young bold artist that protest against respectable and well-established rules of propriety and elegance with angry irriverence. Just to annoy others he loves to shock the respectable and bigott high-ranking society with someone they have absolutely no power amd control on (just as much as He Tian has none either) And not only he makes a use of Mo's rebellious presence, but he let Mo thrive in it, he helps him cultivate it. He basks in his nutricious vitality because it's his form of escapism from his boring life, where he is forced to work for his brother and oblige to the strict ambient.

I think that I will make a more specific analysis about Mo as some specific pre-raphaelite women like Ophelia or La Belle Dame sans Merci.

love when queer media say “when does a monster stop seeming monstrous? when you love it” instead of a narrative to change the monster, reform it, sanitize it. it’s about the bone-deep realization and repression of your Otherness, the desperate act of trying to cut it out of you, and then the painful and radical—ultimately cathartic—acceptance of yourself and the one you love, not despite their monstrousness, but because of it.

Just realized this fic has 20k kudos and I’m blown away. Can’t believe so many of you liked something I created. Means the world to me. Thank you to anyone who read it or thought about reading it. Adore you

'Tyler was wrong' actually starts much earlier in fight club than the end.

Not that what Tyler and the Narrator had going on wasn't some Gay shit, it was, but part of Tyler is the Narrator's desire for male attention originating from his father's abandonment. His father raised him to the age of 6 and then left and started another family. The biggest spark in the Narrator and Tyler's relationship was that Tyler actually paid attention to him, was interested in him. Nihilism was fun when it was 'us against the world'. Then as the story goes on and Tyler gets more into project mayhem, he starts seeing Tyler less and less as Tyler spends an increasing amount of time with his other 'family'. This is when Narrator reaches the height of his anger, his destructiveness, beats Angelface to a pulp, wanting to "breathe smoke". Before Tyler was Terrorist, Dangerous, he was Abandoner and that was the start of Tyler being the villain. Because what Tyler offered in the begining was a way out of the cycle of dysfunctional society, a way forward. This was wrong. Tyler's way ultimately leads to men who are just as emotionally cut off and hurtful as before.

This is why Marla and his love for her IS a way out. Not because men getting with women is what society expects but because men actually loving and caring about anyone is the opposite of what society expects. And Marla is NOT the way Tyler says women are. This is also important. Narrator agrees with Tyler's rants on women despite the fact that the only woman he really knows isn't like that, she's more like him. A big part of Narrator's journey is realizing he has more in common with Marla than Tyler. Marla is weird! And edgy! But she has standards and isn't out to hurt people. You don't have to be normal but you can't be an asshole.

Connection, recognizing your need to not be alone even in the midst of the weirdest and worst time of your life that is the way out.

what i want to say: fight club is about the hurt so many men feel and the toxic masculinity that doesnt let them heal. they dont know how. they want to cry but the only time where theyre allowed to is when people think theyre on their deathbeds. so they turn all their hurt and anger and pain outwards. its about knowing that the world is fucked up but not knowing how to fix it. and instead of figuring out how to heal it they decide to destroy it and start over again. an option that seems so appealing to them, to burn it all and rise from the ashes like a strong and powerful phoenix. but none of them are learning how to build, theyre just learning how to destroy. its about the dangers of cults, how all these men who grew up with shitty fathers and ripped up and shitted on dreams see tyler who seems to be the peak of everything. hes strong hes smart hes charismatic and he seems to understand their struggles so it makes sense them to follow him and to carry out his work. it gives their lives new meaning, such is the appeal of any cult, and the leader is so persuasive that hes convinced actual real life people outside of the book and movie to believe him. to look past the satire and to want to be him. its about obsession. its about wanting. its about how modern day society and especially capitalism and consumerism is fucked up and spoiling and corrupting humanity but the way to fix it isnt by an attack as so many men want to believe. you cant just take sledgehammers to the machine without all the people already in the system suffering. these men dont care if there are casualties they want the world to be plunged into a new dark age they want a new flood so they can start it all over but thats not. the. way! it backfires and the people in project mayhem get hurt and die and their loved ones get hurt and die and the main character realizes he cant stop this and whats sown must be reaped and its about men with hurt inside them not being able to deal with it not being able to sleep or cry because of a system THEY SET UP which is now backfiring ONTO THEM and instead of reconciling with their tender side they just keep fighting and keep throwing punches and HOPE that the blood and bruises will cover all the internal turmoil so they never have to face it

what i say: fight club is actually about gay sex

Fight club deals with some of the same stuff that the concept of "toxic masculinity" is supposed to cover, but I think you can only say it's "about toxic masculinity" by imposing a very reductive pop-feminist framework onto it, and by doing so you'll miss the other things it's about (alienation, disability, identity (of which masculinity is the primary form explored in the film), gay sex, etc)

hannibal: remember the time I lied to you about your physical and mental illness and gave you seizures and let your fever get dangerously high and convince an old classmates to join in on the gaslighting? :)

will:

hannibal: remember when I burned someone you cared about alive and convinced you you killed a bunch of people and shoved the ear of our surrogate daughter down your throat and messed with your fishing lures and got you put in prison for my crimes? :)

will:

hannibal: remember when I killed your good friend and displayed her in little slices and sent someone to kill you and got your biological child aborted then symbolically aborted the surrogate daughter you already thought was dead but you got to see alive for 5 seconds before I slit her throat and made sure she bled on your face after gutting you and blaming you? :)

will:

hannibal: remember when I gave your escape plane ticket away to someone and tried to replace you with someone I don't love at all and then sliced your head open because you are my most specialist boy and I just *had* to eat you because I love you? :)

will:

hannibal: remember when I just had to have you and no one else could so I sent a serial killer to kill your wife and child because why not make it three for three in killing your children? :)

hannibal: good times :)

will: remember when I said I'd miss my dogs but not you

hannibal: will, why are you so unforgivably cruel. a wickedness that would even make god jealous. a heartlessness never before seen in the history of mankind. why must you make me your victim

Nicky gets Allison to re-enact Titanic scenes for the foxes on game night.

Nicky of course, plays Rose.

Allison plays Jack.

The foxes are Tortured by the sight of Nicky and Allison standing on a kitchen table, fan blowing in front of them, Nicky's 10 dollar red wig blowing in the air as he spreads his arms and they both scream the notes to the music.

For the sex in the car scene.. they use 2 anime body pillows and a strap on.. And then throw them at an absolutely HORRIFIED Aaron.

And then.. the Death Scene™️

Nicky is laying on the table, blue lipstick smeared all over his face.

Allison is clutching the table for dear life. She's fading..

Nickys crying "Jack.. JACK.."

All of the foxes are utterly absorbed in the cheap show.

Then.. Nicky looks up, stares at Kevin, pushes Allison's cold dead body off the table, climbs off his "raft",

And screams 'HUNK' as he launches himself at a crying Kevin.

I've seen increasing buzz around here about Howl's Moving Castle (book). I think you all deserve to know that all of Diana Wynne Jones's books are filled with characters and plots that are absolutely as delightful and unhinged as that one.

Some Actual Plots include:

Dogsbody - The star Sirius is accused of murder and sentenced to exile on Earth in the body of a dog until he finds a magical item called a Zoi. He's adopted by a young Irish girl living with her abusive and neglectful English relatives. He has to balance his desire to find the Zoi with needing to be a Good Dog for the girl who takes care of him. Also the Wild Hunt is there. Hexwood - A girl finds a magical wood behind her house where she meets a wizard who thinks he's a convict of the intergalactic government, a boy created by the man to destroy said government, and a robot found in a junk heap. The magic wood is actually an alternate reality being generated by an AI who has a grudge to settle with the head of said government. The book is about abuse, PTSD, and trauma. The Dark Lord of Derkholm - Magical world is being destroyed by a company using it as an isekai amusement park for people from another dimension. Bio-wizard is appointed Dark Lord for the year, and he and his family (four of whom are bioengineered griffins) have to find a way to survive the season while everything is going wrong. Deep Secret - Interdimensional detective/diplomat/wizard needs to find a replacement for his deceased mentor. He does so at a fantasy convention, while trying to keep an interdimensional empire from collapsing into civil war after the emperor is assassinated along with all of his heirs.

She's an absolute master at weaving fantasy elements into the mundane world and writing from the PoV of kids. Her books are funny, clever, and full of delightful characters. I'm begging you all to check them out.

souta being a closer as some sort of magical side hustle/family business while he's actually a full-time college student living an otherwise relatively-normal life is the exact same thing as howl being the most feared and respected wizard of all time when he was just some dude from wales that wandered in
