The Goa'uld: you humans must be powerful and technologically advanced to pose such a threat to us
SG1: we have a lot of enthusiasm and Sam’s pretty smart

Enthusiasm and intelligence save the day. Several times.

SG-1 : we’re really stubborn and refuse to die also we stole one of your guys and now he will only leave to go save us vigilante-style

My mom just said she thinks men are going crazy nowadays bc they have less gay sex now than they did in ancient times lool. She said she has a feeling it used to just be something guys did n moved on n now it’s a big deal for no reason. And I’m listening along like girl tumblr would love you

Critical Mass (S2:E13)

I love this episode. After all the abandonment issues of the last one, this is a great team episode. I love how they lay out the breadcrumbs, the red herrings so that you think it's Cadman or Kavanagh, but once you know, you can see it's Caldwell.

I love Teyla's song and how they weave that into a lament for Atlantis, and then it crescendos into Atlantis surviving again.

I love Caldwell saying Sheppard's name, basically pleading for help.

This is a great episode to watch chronologically. I get it more now that I've watched it where it fits in SG-1.

Also, if you're a Colonel and you come to Atlantis, at some point, Sheppard will be obligated to save you. Just saying. Must be something in the air.

Also, this face makes an appearance. 🤣

There’s a road much traveled But one I haven’t walked down yet And it calls my name It’s a darker path and                                It calls my name…

"Aziraphale is wrong" "Aziraphale made a mistake" "Azirap-" CROWLEY CANNOT KEEP RUNNING AWAY. It has literally never resolved anything. Maybe Aziraphale isn't the *correct* one, but Crowley isn't either.

Hi! My mum and I had a conversation in the car where I mentioned how funny I found this bit, because I had read it as Anathema thinking that she had, in fact, just been run over by a very campy gay couple, and a campy gay couple wouldn't harm her. But my mum read this as Anathema, who she thought could feel that Crowley was a demon, realizing that she was also in the presence of an angel, and an angel wouldn't harm her. And I guess I just wanted to know which was the intended message?

The version that Terry and I had in mind when we wrote it was the former.

Reading the comments I realize that things that were perfectly obvious to readers in the UK 33 years ago don't land the same way now.

If anyone has been in any doubt about what Anathema was thinking the line that would have made it utterly clear would have been..

...the "two consenting cycle repairmen".

In the UK the 1957 Wolfenden Report recommended that 'homosexual behaviour between consenting adults in private should be no longer a criminal offence'. And the phrase "consenting adults" became a euphemism for gay men once the recommendations of the report were put into action and male homosexual acts were decriminalized. (It took a decade and happened in 1967.)

So, yes. She thinks they're gay. And she was safe.

*and are on tumblr, this will not be an indication of age of fanfic writers overall, of course

I broke up the 20s as I, in my experience, feel there is a greater distinction between these age groups

please pick the age you are now, not what you will be

there is no “I want to see answers” option as I don’t want junk data

please reblog!

the parallels between confession booths and bathroom stall gloryholes are not lost on the intellectual homosexuals

workplaces should have to legally provide unlimited paid sick leave available immediately upon hire. the limits that companies that even provide paid sick leave put on it is so fucked up. no one can control when they get sick, how often they get sick, or how long they are sick for, and they shouldn't have to suffer for the transgression of being ill.

"oh, but some people might take advantage of that and just stay home all the time and get paid for it!" if there is really a statistically relevant amount of people you have hired staying home on paid sick leave for months or years on end, perhaps your workplace sucks to be at, and you need to change.

give them reasons to come in to work. make it safer and easier to do their jobs. give them work that they can get invested in and talk to them about what that looks like. make sure you aren't overloading them with too much work or making unreasonable demands. pay them an amount that makes the work worth doing to them. actually form a working relationship with your employees instead of treating them like infinitely exploitable wage slaves.

only allowing your workers to accrew "2 hours a week of sick time starting after 6 weeks of employment" or some shit just doesn't match the reality of how sickness or human health works

on the argument of "people might take advantage of sick leave":

the company already steals from you way more than you can even imagine taking from them, let alone what you would "steal" from them by faking sickness for a few days

that is the very nature of capitalism

I don't want to be served food by someone who has a stomach bug actually. This isn't hard.

The last comment says it all really. Especially when you consider mental health too. Like what happens when a nurse or EMT makes a mistake because they’re deliriously overworked and sleep deprived…what about a bus driver or a pilot? Etc etc etc

Imagine how many deaths could be prevented if people weren't forced to drive while dangerously sleep deprived due to their jobs!

Coming from a country with virtually unlimited sick leave, I have sometimes stayed home when I haven't slept because I'm pretty sure I would have crashed the car otherwise. I'm not dying for my employer. They don't pay me enough for that.

And yes, sometimes people take advantage. So? I'd rather someone take a couple days off and lie about it than live in a society where you are forced to work sick.

i don't understand this obsession that we can't do good things because someone will take advantage. you're currently being taken advantage of. by your employer. by your government. by the rich 1% that control how most of the world works. who fucking gives a shit if a tiny amount of people want to exploit a system designed to help everyone????? that's not a reason not to fucking help people

My last job, a shitty part-time cafe, FIRED me because I "called out too much." You want to know why I was calling out? I was getting sick. I thought it was safe because each time I informed my boss, she reacted positively. Imagine my suprise when I got an EMAIL telling me I was being let go because they needed someone with "100% reliability on attendance," which does not exist, good fucking luck with that. I was also informed that my (asshole) supervisor had talked to me about my calling out. He had not, no one ever did.

The place was kinda failing when I left, and I hope it shuts down.

it’s always “poor little meow meow” or “evil bastard” or “I could make him worse” what about men who are normal 🙄what about men who pay taxes and are well adjusted individuals and not at all insane

don’t know if I can defend myself here
