who is the first david you think of when you hear the name david
when Arthur finally admits his feelings for Gwen to Merlin and says "my father would never let me marry her", and Merlin goes "you want to MARRY Gwen?!" like "shit, dude, I didn't realise it was this serious"
Merlin rewatch season 2 episode 4
Morgana hollering at Arthur as he packs to go do exactly what she wants him to do is so cute
Lancelot and Gwen see each other again like
…why is Lancelot allowed to wear chainmail in this fight to the death and the other guy has to be shirtless?
Arthur says Wildren are blind and hunt by scent. Then, when he hears them coming, he stomps out his torch lol. Another weird thing about this episode is how angry the bad guy is that he hasn’t heard from uther, when merlin and Arthur - taking shortcuts - still haven’t arrived. Obviously it would have been impossible for uther to send a letter in the same amount of time
I cringed so hard as a teenager when Lancelot says “she’s worth more to me than you will ever understand” and then they bring Gwen out. I still find lancelot pretty cringey tbh…
I don’t know if merlin dropping a chandelier on a bandit counts as a murder but I imagine he died. Counting it.
😂😂😂 Arthur getting upset bc Lance and Gwen held hands so he says “truth is I only came because Morgana begged me” and Merlin’s face just screams “why the fuck would you say that” 😂😂😂 ofc Gwen’s going to like “I’d die for you 100 times over” over THAT
Oh wait I just remembered how much it pissed me off that lancelot sees that Arthur likes Gwen and just dips. “I will not come between them” you coward. You would risk death for her, but you respect another man’s “claim” on her more than you respect her wishes? You didn’t even ask her. You just ran away. If I were Gwen I’d never forgive him for that.
Lancelot says all the right things but flees. Arthur says all the wrong things but he shows up, he helps out, he sticks around. Gwen might like lancelot in the short term, but Arthur’s devotion would always win

Merlin rewatch season 2 episode 3
If merlin ignored his mentors, maybe things wouldn’t have ended terribly. Or maybe they would’ve gone just as terribly.
This episode is a bit hard to watch bc it moves slowly. And also the whole idea is weird, because it relies on Morgana, wanting to take a trip to find the druids, just leaving in the middle of the night, and then being surprised that her guardian thinks she’s been kidnapped. Why didn’t she say she was taking a pilgrimage or something? Buy herself 2 weeks. She could bring Gwen for the first half of the trip, it’s not like Gwen doesn’t know about her magic… in season 1 she and Gwen were whispering about suspecting it.
I always thought it was exceedingly selfish of Morgana to refuse to return after hearing dozens will be executed if she doesn’t go home. I think the ever-present fear made her turn towards selfishness at times…. A portent of whats to come?
Also, she didn’t have to let them keep thinking the druids kidnapped her. She could’ve said she was meditating and got attacked by scorpions and the druids saved her. I don’t know if it wouldn’t convinced uther, but she could’ve told Arthur
I’m looking too much into it
Arthur confronting merlin about “having a crush” on Morgana is honestly so sweet. He’s trying to be gentle about it, and then he stares into the distance as he says the difference in status means “she can’t be your friend, let alone anything else” and he’s not really talking to merlin. He’s talking to himself about Gwen.
I hate how much of this show is merlin apologizing to Gaius as though he did anything wrong ugh
Somehow, no new murders! Only one Druid dies and one of Arthur’s men kills him. But not technically Arthur
Merlin total kill count: 10 (none this season)
Arthur total kill count: 7
example for clarity: the first episode I saw was nine and rose but the first LIVE episode I saw was eleven and clara
new ship dynamic called schrodinger’s divorce where characters are simultaneously bitterly divorced and fondly married for twenty years

Once and future queen!
It’s great to see Arthur improving even if it’s for Gwen instead of merlin
Merlin’s well-deserved “sometimes I feel like I’m being pulled in so many different directions, I don’t know which way to turn” speech was sooo relatable to me as a teen
I don’t actually understand what happened to the assassin… merlin distracted him but Arthur defeated him…. And I guess he died?? Bizarre because Arthur just hit him in the chest with a non-deadly weapon like he did many people, but the wiki assures me Arthur killed him.

Merlin rewatch season 2 episode 1
Watching Arthur be mean to merlin is always hard lol and it sucks how susceptible Arthur is to kissassery. He’s honestly such a bad friend randomly — last week he’ll die for merlin, today merlin attacks someone and instead of being like “u ok bro?” he’s like “right to jail”
Sigan: “he does not deserve your loyalty. He treats you like a slave.”
Merlin: “that’s not true!” (I’m thinking, welll it kinda is)
Sigan: “ he cast you aside without a moments thought”
Merlin: “that doesn’t matter” (ok that’s kinda sweet tho)
Shockingly, no murders. Sigan killed Cedric, and merlin only trapped sigan’s soul where it should be.

Leverage finale fucks me up. Nate had to think of the worst possible failure, the worst thing he could think of, so he goes with “they died and it’s my fault”?? He needs sterling to buy that he’s breaking down so he goes with “I lost them”
Women want one thing and it's quite obvious, A large affordable interconnected North American Rail Network
i don't know who needs to hear this, but guilt, self-hatred and shame are not sustainable sources of growth and healing. you can't hate yourself into feeling better, or being better. you can't repeatedly punish yourself for your flawed humanity and expect wholesome results.
i can’t believe arthur never noticed merlin using magic around him
