And you’re the one woman I trust to have my six, including now.
The connection between these two is so sweet, we’re left wondering if it’s a really close friendship or if there actually is more to it. Also, Peggy’s answer to Nat’s question after she gets back from saving the Multiverse and promptly hugs Nat: “Several times, actually”.
“What? Like, a disabled protagonist? How would that even work? How could someone with a disability be the hero in an action show?” local anime trash boy wonders while sitting next to his box sets of Full Metal Alchemist, showing no hint of irony or self awareness.
but is Ed really disabled? sure I get he lost his arm and leg
but he’s still able to move and do things perfectly
He has prosthetics. Having prosthetic limbs (that more than once break amd need repair) doesnt make him not disabled
It should also be noted that Ed:
-had to undergo very painful surgery to get automail
-had to relearn how to write because of his prosthesis (there’s a post going around showing he had to switch hands etc) and his handwriting is likely a lot worse due to that. This means automail isn’t super good for delicate work, unsurprising, considering what it’s made of.
-experiences phantom limb pain and therefore other associated stuff (this was only really shown in the manga)
-cannot go anywhere too cold without changing his automail or he’ll get really bad frost bite and it will stop working
-cannot go anywhere too hot, period, because the metal attached and under his skin will overheat and he will be badly burned
-Reattachment is painful, but needs to be done frequently if he breaks or outgrows his automail
- it’s HEAVY so much so that the strain has the potential to cause stress on his body, enough that it’s even theorized as possibly stunting his growth.
-it requires regular maintenance or it will break down, as shown when he forgets to do that and it…breaks down
-when it does need to be repaired, it takes time to do that, during which Ed uses regular prosthetics (that usually don’t quite fit him).
-costs a lot of money (not a problem for Ed due to high state alchemist salary/having mechanics as surrogate family, but explicitly noted to being the reason why most people in the fmaverse stick to regular prosthetics along with the painful surgery)
So Ed can’t actually do everything perfectly and experiences a lot of extra hassle, problems and pain people without automail don’t have to deal with! And any advantages he does have are more suited to fighting than day to day life (being able to incorporate weapons/fake out people who want to blow up his arm).
Arakawa did her research and thought it through. Automail is by no means a magic cure that solves all problems associated with losing a limb.
I’m kinda sad these two might not count.
Why wouldn’t they? Hiccup is missing a leg
But he doesn’t struggle.
Disability isn’t defined by” struggle” or suffering. Having a useful prosthetic doesn’t make them not disabled. Get the fuck out of here with that.
DISABILITY ISN’T DEFINED BY SUFFERING OR STRUGGLE
I will also point out (quietly, because that last point was SO important) that choosing not to show it on screen does not necessarily indicate a lack of either adaptation or difficulty. It might simply be none of our business.
Reblogging for that last comment…it’s really creepy how voyeuristic people act about it sometimes. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean they’re not struggling…and their apparent struggle or lack thereof isn’t what “grants” them disabled status. It’s the fact of having a disability.
Also that’s just… not true. Hiccup DOES struggle sometimes and there’s a couple instances of them showing it. The Christmas special Gift of the Night Fury (which I am not even kidding, is canon, they reference it in the third movie) shows him having trouble on ice (you know, metal leg) and the movies do occasionally show him having a little trouble getting around.
A struggle because of a disability doesn’t have to be the most extreme thing. It can be a little extra annoyance that just makes things a little harder, or makes someone not able to do things like others would. Like a movie not having captions so a Dead/HoH person can’t watch it.
“But they have functional prosthetics so are they really disabled?”
Do you know the definition of the word disabled. Have you ever looked up what a disability is.
What the fuck is even happening here.
Hey, you wanna know what another incredibly common disability is?
Glasses.
And yet they are ubiquitous. Glasses are relatively inexpensive, and there are opticals everywhere.
No one pities or tries to suggest that myopic or presbiopic people don’t actually need their glasses. No one says they should “toughen up” or “try yoga” to fix their vision. People with glasses aren’t asked “what happened” to them by strangers on the street.
Needing prescription glasses is the gold standard of how all disabilities should be treated.
So, why aren’t they?
Just ‘cause you’re not suffering from your disability doesn’t mean you’re not disabled. A happy person in a wheelchair is still disabled, someone with an invisible disability is still disabled, someone like me, who has Tourettes but isn’t bothered by it, is still fucking disabled.
Disability isn’t a sliding schale depending on how much pain or discomfort you’re in, jesus.
Disability sometimes doesn’t even involve pain or discomfort, lets face it. If someone is Dyslexic, are they not disabled? If someone is Schizophrenic, are they not disabled? Remember, everyone, just because you cannot see something doesn’t mean it’s not there. Nor can you ever judge someone based on what seems to be the case, every human being suffers in their own way. Some are permanently in pain so they can only function with painkillers, just for example. Others may seem fine but they are only putting on a brave face. I’ve met people in such a state they can barely function as human beings, yet some have been happy, some sad. Being short sighted hasn’t bothered me since I was a child, yet I still get people looking at me and find myself wondering just what they are thinking. I can function fine day to day, but am I not disabled? I believe that people who have disabilities are treated differently, not better, because they are simply “Different”. Those who are much better suited day to day life don’t know how to respond to people who have been through what disabled people have. They either stay away, make fun of or just hope it never happens to them. The rare one’s just accept it. I just wish things were different.
Porg Punt
My theory on why Luke dislikes porgs. Rey is too naive to understand (and I love her for it).
No porgs were hurt in the making of this comic.
Coolest. Aunt. Ever.
I have a feeling Anakin would have been at his wits end in a week. Padme would have found it hysterical and loved it.
These are a couple Supergirl drawings I made as part of my recent batch of commissions. Always love drawing the Danvers sisters!
(Note: Commissions are now closed.)
Just gonna reblog this because I love this show and I love these sisters and I am sad the show is ending but I’m grateful to have had them.
what’s your favourite thing about sara lance? 💓

What do you think of AvaLance? (I saw you like legends of tomorrow and that is my fav show!! so happy!!)
Avalance is cute! My favorite thing about Sara “now how do we sneak out the back” Lance is her ability to give stirring inspirational speeches and follow them up with ridiculousness.
Jack Harkness is probably the reason why bilateral symmetry is the template for all intelligent lifeforms in this series’ universe. Please tell me I wasn’t the only one making this theory while watching Utopia in Season 3.
Fun fact! Water actually turns “blood red” when it is contaminated by sulfur creating sulfuric acid. And scientists have discovered that around the time of the plagues a volcano went off that disturbed Egypt’s environment. So the plagues are scientifically proven. The other parts of the plagues are explained by the sulfuric acid river making the animals leave the river and escaping into the human population.
WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME THE PLAGUES WERE PROVEN
if anyone wants a full list heres how they happened:
basically they all stem from a massive eruption of a volcano on the island of santorini off the coast of greece. the ash then floated over to egypt which kickstarted the plagues
1) blood: the ash carried the mineral cinnabar, which has the capability of turning water red
2) frogs: the ash also had many toxic and acidic substances so naturally, all the frogs are gonna flee the river
3) lice: given what was going on insects would have burrowed into dead animals/peoples skin and laid eggs, which then hatched
4) beasts: everything is getting poisoned from the ash and toxins, causing animals to freak the fuck out/die
5) pestilence: toxins again
6) boils: the ash would have caused storms that carried acid rain which when it fell, would irritate peoples skin causing boils
7) hail: the storm again
8) locusts: again with the insects and the amount of dead bodies and such which attract more insects. a lotta insects basically.
9) darkness: the ash covered the sky, blocking out the sun
10) slaying of the first born: given that children’s bodies were found in higher numbers than others, some archeologists think they may have been sacrificed to stop all the destruction, but they aren’t 100% sure about that. this is just me but I would say another possibility is that babies/kids are a lot more susceptible to toxins and shit, so while an adult may have been fine or gotten a bit sick, it might have been very dangerous/deadly for kids or babies
the volcano would also attest for the parting of the sea weirdly enough. the red sea was in fact the ‘reed’ sea, and was very shallow, probably waist deep or so. given the amount of shit dumped into the ocean from the volcano, this wouldve caused a tsunami to head towards egypt. the water would get sucked out from the reed sea right before the tsunami hit, letting people pass it easily, then the actual tsunami would hit, fuckin up anyone who tried to follow.
another theory is that the red water was caused by algae, which would cause the frogs and stuff to jump out as well. the algae also carried substances toxic to animals so if they ingested any they’d get sick and die, so more insects. in this theory there was a sand storm coincidentally that caused the rest
The volcano wasn’t ON Santorini - it WAS Santorini, then called Thera. It completely blew away the Minoan settlements on the island and was one of the largest eruptions in human history.
- The tsunamis from the Theran eruption devastated Crete, weakening the then-powerful Minoan civilization, leaving them open to being invaded by the Mycenaeans.
- The volcanic winter it created devastated crops in China leading to the fall of the Xia Dynasty.
- The abrupt and catastrophic loss of the people of Thera may have also inspired the myths about Atlantis.
this is blowing my fucking mind
Scars: Kassandra, Aloy and Lara Croft

I’m not sure about the Kryptonese sentence actually, lol I was just guessing! But I used this woderful site to help me construct the sentence.
Also, I made an IG acct to personally keep better track of my works, too. Since my tumblr app keeps crashing lol It’s heeeygracie! :)
Part II of Explorer!Lena. Part I here. Also, I said on IG that Kara’s been asleep for 400 years, changing that to 1000! Lol
