Stunning Owl Illustrations by John Pusateri

Outstandingly impassioned with the history and science of birds, artist John Pusateri specializes in bird portraiture. Fascinated by birds eyes, Pusateri  informs us in his artist’s statement that their most distinct feature are the first to rot. In his series Metamanagement and Rabbit Destruction Council, the artist magnifies the beauty of the mystical night predator with soft pastels and enchanting colors.

With the sole use of pencils and pastels, he gives the highly intelligent and serious looking figure a sweet and innocent facade. One is immediately drawn to their big bright yellow and dark eyes. They’re expressive and glossy; they demand attention. Pusater’si inclusion of surreal colors on the feathers of each owl add a tender charm and deeper beauty.
