I mean, what did you think, really? That we were just gonna sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives? Yeah. I guess I did. I really did.

please make sure that wherever you’re at in life, you don’t treat it like a transitory period. don’t waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. don’t waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while it’s important to better yourself and reach for your goals, don’t neglect the present because that’s where you are now and it’s your now that determines your future.

“They say when you meet the love of your life, time stops, and that’s true. What they don’t tell you is that when it starts again, it moves extra fast to catch up.”

Big Fish (2003)

This is legit my favorite movie of all time. No one ever understands why it’s my favorite movie but it’s all there. It has so many life lessons it’s mind exploding.

What your favorite Lord Huron LP album says about you

Lonesome Dreams: you’re an old fan. You’ve been with the band for some time and are more than likely unhappy with stylistic change Vide Noir took. You’re a closet country/western fan. Stories are meant to fill you with hope, and no matter where life takes you, the journey is the adventure, and while there’s never a happy end, you can have happiness along the way.

Strange Trails: you either are a new fan who came here from that one netflix show, or you’ve been here from the beginning, and listen deeply to everything. You probably disregard the other two albums entirely, as Lonesome Dreams was a warm up for Strange Trails, and Vide Noir is too different to qualify. You like tales that are fatalistic, and grimdark, to an extent. Love is a torturous feeling, and it’s selfishness either draws you like a moth to a flame, or repels you entirely, with hardly any feelings in between. No matter love’s affect on you personally, there is a certain magic that cannot be denied, which keeps you coming back to listen as deeply as you do.

Vide Noir: probably not huge on folk as a genre but are attracted to Lord Huron’s sound regardless. You loved the themes of love and loss from Strange Trails, and the new sound is absolutely enchanting. You like how they captured the feelings of being lost, heartbroken, and empassioned. You believe that stories don’t necessarily have to be linear or cohesive to tell their stories, and often find your favorite stories aren’t. You like open endings, unsure if the future holds hope or despair.
