I came across this while browsing today and thought it was an important PSA to throw out, considering some of the behavior I've seen in the Horizon fandom over the past few months. One thing I've seen that disturbed me were comments from folks that seem to think that saying you don't like a certain pairing constitutes ship-bashing.
But the thing is - people are allowed to not be into your ship. They're allowed to express that on their own personal pages (although it is good etiquette not to actually tag the ship you're expressing opinions on). Sure, it's not the most fun thing to come across if they're talking about your ship, but blocking or scrolling past is easy.
It doesn't become bashing until you attack the shippers themselves, directing your criticisms towards the human beings that like the pairing rather than the pairing itself. Calling someone gross/dumb/delusional because they happen to enjoy a particular dynamic between two characters that you just can't see is bashing. Griping that you don't understand how anyone could possibly see a romantic connection between two characters is bashing. It's the kind of behavior that tears fandoms apart, and there's no need for it.
It's even worse when you go onto post or creation made for that ship and say it to the shipper's face. It's uncalled for, rude, and just plain mean. What is the point in making someone feel shitty just for liking something? When you could just...not?
Anyways, I've just had this on my heart lately and coming across this list made me realize that it's a piece of fandom etiquette we could all use a refresher on. People expressing reasonable feelings and opinions on a ship is not an attack, and it's not ship-bashing either. But if you're someone that has put people down just for enjoying something you don't understand, it might be time for some soul-searching.
rb for sample size! ive always lived in a big city and i forget ppl grew up elsewhere so. ye
In your hubris you refused to help us. Now watch your hellsite succumb the same doom.
XOXO the twitter outlaws.
Can't hear you over the sound of me still playing the flute.
Zuurith:
- Zuurith is objectively evil but he maintains a seemingly strict code of conduct and a dedication to keeping order within the bounds of his city. One of the first descriptions of him is by the main character Kendal who states "Zuurith embodies a system of order and law that he believes is more important than any of the people he's meant to protect." Which feels like a pretty great summation of Lawful Evil philosophy, at least in my opinion.
Light:
- his rules were incredibly fucked and were employed for the sake of mas murder, but he followed them to the end
- Becomes a serial killer and is a cop about it
I didn't want to have to do this but... it's tradition at this point
I don't know if I'd call either of these guys Lawful Evil, but for completely opposing reasons
Guess who just had their first barfight in The Claim 🌟 (It's not Erend)
From this thing that is going around

Only one of these will make it into the bracket so choose your favorite!
the sword or the dude
If I can recommend you do 1 low-effort thing for the love of God it is this:
Keep 5 cards in your pocket. One will say "yes", the second will say "no."
If you lose your voice, or lose speech, or want to make a dramatic embellishment at the right time, it is an elegant and efficient solution that is right there at hand.
But what if people question you from there? "Why do you have that card? Why would you do this? How long have you had that in your pocket?" For this, or whatever else they say, the third card: "I don't have a card for that."
"What the fuck," they ask. They laugh. They are bemused. You bring the energy back down with the fourth card: "I have laryngitis. I've lost speech. My throat hurts". Whatever you expect to occur.
The joke is over. Rule of threes. Now they are curious. YThey wonder about logistics. "How did you know I would say that? Is everyone so predictable?"
As a three-part bit, nobody ever sees the fifth card coming.
"I have powerful wizard magics."
Gets them every time
A fun way ML got me is when it revealed one of the main characters had an identical twin cousin I went "Oh, lol. I guess at the end of the day this IS a cartoon for small children" and applied no further thought to it. And then things just continued to happen.
It's all fun and games concluding Adrien having a relative named after and loosely based on his 2D pilot design is a pointless meta gag until you're watching Félix throw critical wrenches into the plot and wondering if when they nixed the plans for the romantic lead to be a rude ice king this destabilized so many loadbearing acts of chaotic problem causing they needed to bud them off into an entire separate character, at which point it remains fun and games but they're definitely more interesting.
They extracted so much if his agency in the name of equal opportunity damseling it can fill out an entire separate guy. Absolutely wild I love it here.
