Black Woman
Black Woman Mother Sister Daughter Aunt Cousin Niece Friend Wife Lover I see your Black Scars Heartache Resilience Pain Love Spirit I want nothing more than for you to know that you are not invisible You are as strong as the roots of the baobab tree, You flourish in drought or storm Your voice hails the song of a tortuous past, of a victorious future You wave your blood-stained flag to remind your sons and daughters That the journey will be costly and Perilous You are light in darkness and Hope in despair You, Black woman Are life And you are not invisible. ~LHB

Like, they had us watching it in high school and we made jokes about how it would be fucked up if he was shot right then & there but I never realized how completely real that actually is. They can build us up so much just to take that one glimmer of hope from us.
Dear Black People,
We do not owe anyone an explanation for our anger.
Or existence
Or appearance
Or resistance
Or resilience
or excellence
Or self-love
