Then it's important to consider that this person may not be giving you the whole picture.
Some people thrive so much in the presence of conflict that they purposely pit people against each other in order to get attention and an emotional high.
Before engaging in fandom wank or ostracizing someone in fandom based on secondhand information, consider the source(s) of your information and whether they necessarily have your best interests at heart.

Seeing the occasional Tumblr discourse here has highlighted some horrifying things to me. As I'm reading through I can't work out who I agree with. I was very much Right wing and borderline fascist before joining r/196, and I started to learn otherwise. I would generally agree with alot of the stuff there. Ofcourse I would still see alot of discourse there, alot of bad Liberal takes akin to "Even if theyre a Nazi assault isnt ok!!!!" and the sort.
But Ive realised why I struggle to figure out who i agree with here: There is no upvote/ downvote ratio. I have let so many opinions be entirely formed by the 196 hivemind. Be it good or bad, this was a fucking horrifying realisation. The correct take is the one with the bigger number.
