Every time Atem starts a new pokemon save, Kaiba's like "look, you cannot just use the first 6 pokemon you caught on route 1 for the entire game," and Atem's like "but they're my valued friends! I won't abandon them!" and then proceeds to beat Kaiba's meticulously bred and ev-trained team with Fluffy the Furret

It was already weird that DM Duel Links Kaiba was just as rude to the little kid duelists as he was to the older ones, but it’s genuinely ???? that DSOD Duel Links Kaiba is? like he gave them VR for free and acts super chill w them in canon. would ‘slightly less antagonist’ alternate lines have been THAT much trouble????

also that ONE line where he’s a huge dick to Mokuba if you win???? who allowed you to exist?

@cryptidclub​ YEAH! HE IS! And what gets me esp is that there’s not really.... anything in the broader script/narrative of the game that sounds like he’s usually rude or mean to the kids. In fact, the other duelists all get really excited to see him! So it’s just a really egregious oversight on this game’s part to not have like... less rude lines mixed in, or like I said before used when he’s dueling the really little kids.

As for Mokuba-

It’s not like, super terrible or anything, and Eric Stuart’s delivery is definitely a “not as much of a jerk as you could have been award” take on it. But it is a really rude very un-encouraging when he could just say “I bet you could do better, sport” or smth instead.

And this is another weird one for me bc his start of duel line/other interactions w Mokuba are totally normal, if pretty Kaiba-y (”Don’t expect me to go easy on you”), so idk why this is his victory line. Esp w how it’s delivered, “Come on, Mokuba, you can do better than that” is a much better fit. Less mean-spirited, but still pretty Kaiba-y. And yet: this. :\

Least valid thing about Duel Links is not carrying over "Seto Kaiba is nice(-er, comparatively) to kids" from the anime, tbh
