Support Maui, Hawai'i Residents During the Lahaina Wildfire Crisis
A series of wildfires exacerbated by hurricane winds and climate change has destroyed homes, historical sites, and natural flora in Lahaina, Maui. Thousands have been displaced, and lives have been lost.
WWC's mod Ren has put together a page outlining resources for residents displaced and affected by the wildfires, and for those who wish to support them during this crisis.

Hey guys I didnt mean to disappear the way I did this month, but especially in the more recent weeks. I've been in an UNBEARABLE amount of pain with migraines almost every day for over a week and I may very well have a sinus infection (': Like I WAS diagnosed with chronic sinusitis last year iirc but this is unbearable. My throat hurts, my teeth hurt, my face hurts, I can't breathe out my nose. I feel miserable tbh.
Another reason for absence and being so slow on work is because I came really close to calling the cops on my mother in the middle of a fight not too long ago. I'm certain it would've gotten physical if Popo hadn't walked through the front door when he did. Thankfully things DIDN'T get physical, but I'm still very shaken up about it. I'm in no danger, but I'm getting around to making an official post for my [GoFundMe] that's been successfully published now. That was the last straw I just cannot handle how my cats and I are treated. It's seriously affected my workflow for far too long.
Anyway I could really use some positivity and distraction. I missed this place and I missed you guys, home life has just been.. a lot. And I'm exhausted.

what they’re upset about is that Takaia is pocketing all the donation money rather than using it to update and improve the site, plus a lack of communication on getting things done yet refusing to let more mods/staff pitch in, so they’re quitting as protest. the moderators want the event to keep going for the sake of the participants, but ArtFight’s future is dubious unless Takaia cleans up their act.

More and more reasons to not join Threads. Can someone put together a masterlist of all these attempted Twitter replacements and the pros and cons of them? Like: Spoutible: Has their theming together and works similarly to Twitter, but NSFW material isn't permitted and has lead to their CEO acting like a shithead when asked about it. Blue Sky: Similar to Twitter, but still feels like it's in Beta... mostly becuase it's still in Beta and is invite only. While that creates a more welcoming atmosphere and has allowed people to dogpile awful people off of it, it has limited features and not as many people as you may want to reach for an audience. Tumblr: You know this site's problems - you're here already. Hive: Had potential, but shit the bed early on with its technical issues and is mobile only.

I am once again explaining that in order for walkable cities and public transit to work for disabled people, there also need to be more public bathrooms available in and around those areas. Not just places to sit down or rest. Bathrooms. We need accessible, clean bathrooms. With sharps bins. With multiple wheelchair accessible stalls. With an area to set down supplies needed to maintain one’s body. Even if it’s not being used to get rid of bodily waste, bathrooms are one of the few spaces disabled people have to maintain some sort of privacy when they’re in the middle of a flare up or they need to take medication or what have you. Designing a public space? Include bathrooms.

I have been pregnant, which, for anyone who doesn't know, is basically handicapping your bladder with anywhere from a -12 to -200 ability to hold your pee, at a public event where they explicitly closed the public restrooms to "cut down on the homeless presence."
It was hell. I ended up peeing myself in the car, because they SHUT DOWN the bathrooms in the public transit center too! So not only can I not pee at the event, had to get a ride home bc public transit is crowded, no restrooms either, and the inevitable happened. Living with any kind of incontinence or anything that affects your general ability to go to bathroom, in the current public sphere of NO RESTROOMS EVER BC HOMELESS PPL EXIST? And IF there's restrooms there's no setting down your stuff or anything like that? The WORST.
Its a type of ableism I never really thought about until it happened to me and I'm never gonna shut up about it. Give us all the right to pee (or otherwise) in peace.
