the canon is dead long live the canon
id play the fuck out of a fallout conversion for a lowpoly total war game
there's a zelda one i remember very fondly
glad you survived the storm :)
thanks, it wasn't so bad for us. there was flooding up and down the street but we kept power the whole time. inlaws' house got flooded tho
...i think scarberrys dialogue fucks with me so bad because the script is responding to the wiki page for the cult of the mothman, which i wrote
i can also be 100% positive this specific wiki page is of note because Modiphius staff confirmed to me that their description of a mothman fig set was copied from what i had written. it's also just very common knowledge that fallout writers refer to the wiki as much as internal docs, & there are several other examples in the IP
what's bothering me right now is... ok so i began the cosmology section with the assertion "They believe they are in contact with a being called 'the Wood,' always capitalized," and Brother Scarberry Constantly Capitalizes Words To Denote Spiritual Significance
so him not capitalizing "wood" in that offhand lore bomb feels very cheeky. like oh cool now i have to be fully suspicious of the word "wood" in all contexts, and i have even less clear language to describe how this works. well played
i rly get paid as much as my day job to do this. very grateful to everyone who reads the blog and otherwise participates
oh this changes everything. this changes everything
Brother Scarberry: Maybe one day I will become a child of the wood. I just need to... Oh, hello. Don't mind me. Just... ruminating.
oh my gosh. noooo NOOOOO YESSSSSSS
reeling. so violent and unnecessary of them to not capitalize the word Wood here. in this subplot in this script in this line. like holy shit. advanced
btw jeff lane is the interloper
i swear all my breakthrough posts get zero notes
this is confirmation that the firstborn of the wood was once a human. it's a big deal

*Gasp* Is that the warm glow of the Holy Mothman!? *Sigh* Alas no, just more radiation.
they actually underline that this dude sees radiation as light huh
Brother Scarberry: Towards the Whitesprings I could faintly saw a woman in need of help. She ran unobstructed through the trees before I lost sight of her near an old cemetery.
why would you do this to me
A very friendly man. While his personality was cold, he could not shake his smile. I feel as though we were looking for similar things.
yaaaay
You see, since I was selected by Mothman Himself, I am seen as a Beacon. A source of His Light!
oh what
Brother Scarberry: An Elder once implied that the one behind RobCo was lacking in the soul. But fear not! Regardless of your technology, you will find guidance.
yall. brother scarberry mentions Mr House
Vault scum: He created a robot that thought it was a sheep. I think it killed him. Brother Scarberry: Ah hubris. We have a story about a moth that flew too close to the sun and burned their wings. It seems he had the same outcome with False Gods.
all of scarberrys lines are mad cursed. i cant really get into it in text. i would need to rave
i suspect his repeated deployment of Butterfly is an allusion to mariposa. he does several classic fallout nods, including a joke about Jet being a myth. he's quite an anomaly
hatchet pointing a gun at the stem of Tanagra: tell me the name of god you fungal piece of shit
