anyway I love things like having independence, being intelligent, taking pride in my skills, not feigning incompetence, referring to myself as a woman instead of a girl, aging unapologetically, having pores, stretch marks, grey hairs, wrinkles and body fat, listening to my body's needs, eating as much as I need to satisfy my hunger, being bare-faced, wearing comfortable clothes, etcetera

I think the most magical part of the Barbie movie for me was when I was taking the train home afterwards. I of course had my full pink outfit on and the whole time this little girl kept peaking around her mom trying to look at me. She had the biggest look of awe and she shyly hid behind her mom a couple times when we made eye contact but eventually I got her to wave at me. And ngl before that I felt a little shy on the train. My friends had gotten off already and the car was otherwise filled with people dressed in ordinary clothes so I stuck out like a sore thumb. But any self consciousness vanished when she finally waved, because I realized why should I ever deny myself the indulgence of enjoying the magic of girlhood?
i hate when girls feel dumb for trying to see the best in people and then end up hurt or disappointed like no!! it’s those people that were dumb for misleading you. they took advantage of your kindness and generosity, and they’ll rot for it

If society agrees that children can know themselves, and have a right to self determination…. Everything else that Conservatives argue they have a right to exert over children crumbles. As just two examples….
