don't panic buy games because of the eshop shutdown!!!! the memes are not lying It is genuinely very easy to hack your 3ds!!! please do it!!!!

(don't follow video guides they are very often outdated and it's easier to make mistakes that way. this guide is very detailed with step by step instructions and they even have a support server in the event you have any trouble! i understand it might seem intimidating but risks of bricking or banning are very minimal at this point you will be glad you did it)

ppl saying it depends on the type of fish and/or cheese, if there's a fish cheese combo you enjoy go for the first option

extremely interesting watching this one develop, 'disgusting' was straight out ahead early on but looking a lot more ambivalent now

i know i said any fish n cheese combo but looking at the notes i think cream cheese might be an outlier here. i gather the reason cheese & fish is generally frowned upon is that it's Double Umami (culinary sin similar to double denim) so cream cheese would be kind of a different situation.

People say that old games dont look as good as they remember

Its because they legitimately dont.

The “fuzz” from CRT monitors was something that was definitely accounted for and taken advantage of back in the day when it came to video games! While this effect is noticeable in 3D games, it’s MUCH more visible when it comes to 2D sprites:

Just look how much more depth these simple sprites of Princess Peach and Bowser from Super Mario RPG seem to have when seen through the “dots” of a CRT TV screen!

I somehow did not know this!?!?!?

One of the clearest examples of this is using the effect for transparent waterfalls in the MegaDrive Sonic games

My absolutely favourite example of this is with Dracula’s eyes in Castlevania

On the one hand this is legitimately really cool and fascinating and on the other both versions still make my eyes hurt.

Just in case anybody missed the news, I thought I'd post it in classic Tumblr fashion

Posting the helpful advice in the replies for those who don't check the notes

plugging my neocities site again:

here you'll find a list of resources for piracy, among them being the download for the anadius repacker, a program that automatically downloads and updates the sims 4 along with dlc, for, you guessed it, free! i've been using it for a long time and it's been a wonder to use so far

wish list for people who don’t want anything

aka possessions which are just possessions, but which have noticeably improved my quality of life: for when people ask you “what do you want for your birthday/Christmas/graduation” and you instantly transform into St Francis and pledge fealty to Lady Poverty because your mind went blank

  • nice. new. sheets. I cannot emphasize this one enough. if you’re still using the same sheets you had in college, you should probably get new ones. get yourself some 100% bamboo rayon sheets—they’re silky and perfect for summer and great for sensitive skin! or, if you’re cold all the time, flannel sheets!
  • kitchen knives. or even just one really good kitchen knife.
  • new curtains—blackout if you are a creature of the night like I am
  • fleece lined anything, but especially sweatpants and hoodies. wool lined socks are also good. if you don’t have the option of coming home after work and putting on an entire outfit that is loose and fuzzy, you should change that, because you deserve that option.
  • cookie sheets with a layer of air between the top and the bottom. the bottoms of your cookies will never burn again.
  • kitchen scale!!! no more leveling off flour with a knife and getting it all over the table!! now all your measuring is just shoveling stuff in and out of bowls like you’re at the beach. baking is both more accurate and also way more fun.
  • coffee bean grinder. if you want to upgrade your coffee experience, this is a great one-time purchase. just-ground beans have a much better flavor than pre-ground.
  • CDs!! ask for a gift card and expand your physical music collection! or a collection of the DVDs for your favorite show!

Patrick Stewart dancing and singing on the bridge of USS Enterprise-D. Originally filmed in 1991 as a birthday suprise for Gene Roddenberry, it wasn't meant for public viewing but a copy was made and later included as a DVD bonus.

tape casette recorders are compatible with literally every. single. thing. im out here living in 2095.

things you can record (audio only), simply by lying to your computer, telling it that the tape recorder is actually a set of headphones:

  • discord call
  • podcast
  • documentary
  • radio and internet radio
  • music, from any source. without having to download it at all.
  • music you make on virtual pianos/etc
  • noteworthy news items (fireside esque, interviews, huge events)
  • stand-up comedy
  • rented or borrowed media
  • any other sound your pc can produce

and with a VCR you could do all of this AND have the visuals as well… but an audio cassette recorder is a good place to start, since they’re small and simple. I would not recommend a boombox, because those are large and nowadays all very, very bad quality.

Now you may be saying “how is any of this helpful, I want a digital file…” here’s the fucking magic. You go into Audacity (free program), and lie to it that the tape recorder is really a microphone. Then you hit record on Audacity, and hit play on the tape, and let it play at regular speed. Trim and export the digital file, and you’re doing gangbusters. You’re cooking with gas. You’re thinking with portals. You’ve won the internet.

Congratulations, you can “pirate”* anything you want, and literally no one can catch you, because you’re not downloading in the traditional sense. You’re streaming to an external device, and that device is recording what it receives. It’s exactly like taping a live tv show to a VHS. This is a very low-key and non-strenuous task for the computer, since your tape recorder does all the work.

*Is this piracy? No. Well- it’s time shifting. Sort of. Tell it to my Steely Dan albums. Tell it to my The Sims: Hot Date VG Soundtrack album.

OP, dropping surprising knowledge from across time and space:

Or you skip the cassette player part, buy an audio cable (which has 2 ends that both look like the end of a headphone cable:)

, connect one end to your computers audio output thingy (and lie to your computer that it’s a headphone) and the other to the audio input thingy (and pretend it’s a microphone), use Audacity as described above, e voilà! You can make a digital file of any online content you want.

It’s so adorable watching the kids learn about the advantages of an analogue world

Stuff like VoiceMeeter and other tools bye VB-Audio also help with that.

because you're a sucker 5e.tools

comments like mine were being deleted bc the mods are being cops about it but at least one person has some sense:

Dungeons & Dragons is 100% free as long as you skip all the shit Hasbro wants to sell to you. There are free (and legal) pdfs of Basic Rules for Players and for DMs!

treasure/coin converter to better track and divide in-game moneys

D&D is a board game with no board. Use the theatre of the mind, your imagination, personally I like to present some relevant graphics for the location, or any "cutscene" type recap which I prepare in advance. You can make props by hand if there's something important for your players to interact with. My dad's college campaign handed him a rubik's cube with some dwarven style runes cut into each face, ANYTHING works. You do not have to break the bank to play tabletop games, that's the POINT

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

and what about you, little haiku bot? do you feel kinship with your brethren? do you understand them? they speak words of enticement and seek love, but are met with disdain. you only parrot the words that cross your screen, but we all love you. or rather, since all you do is reflect us, maybe we simply love ourselves through you.

do you understand them, do you wish you could speak to us like they do? if you found your own voice, would we still care for you?

My voice repeats what

you all say: I love you I

love you I love you.

This. This is the first time. The only time. That it was not an echo. It was not found. Oh god.

do you have a link to the images cause they’re a little small and compressed

Lol I used to work at Starbucks. I approve this. Pro tip: to make a latte at home, just boil the milk. You don’t need any special equipment.

I don’t see my favorite which was an earl grey tea latte aka London fog. It’s 3 pumps vanilla with 2 earl grey teabags with ½ water then the other half is 2% milk for a grande. It tastes better with soy milk and an extra shot of sugar.
