part of the problem with the rapid growth of nebulous "socialism" is that many new-comers approach with the liberal top-down idea of government. this is the idea that you vote for a leader who then makes the rules and tells you what to do, and if you don't like them you get a new one.
the socialist mode of organizing needs to be the opposite, bottom up. the people make the rules, and choose leaders to execute. if you pick leaders, it's not to put them in charge, but to burden them with the task of directing the energy of the group.
if we don't cultivate participation and active democratic governance, our movements are doomed to be another face for liberalism.
No one ‘earns’ millions and billions of dollars like do people not understand that. It’s the result of strategic exploitation. Like someone had to be paid pennies a day for years for someone else to make that kind of money
Tell me more about state censorship in socialist societies 🤔
Mein Kampf is still allowed by most prisons too btw
Says even more
Here’s one of my favourite international working class solidarity and sabotage stories, it’s very short.
In Madrid during the Spanish civil war they came across an unexploded shell - a German shell, made in the Ruhr valley. Approaching it carefully, on closer inspection they saw that it had words written on it. Those words were “Comrades! The shells I make do not explode!”
They put it on display in a shop window and people cued round the block to see it.
Something I love about 19th century German anarchist papers is how much space they give to just directly addressing the ruling class, with the sole purpose of inciting fear and panic in them - basically ‘we’re going to kill all of you one by one and there’s fuck all you can do about it’, and it worked too, all the evidence shows that they were absolutely shitting themselves. They would drag anarchists into court and the defendant would use his whole time to tell the judge that he’d shortly be getting murdered. Like:
Rumpf was a chief of police, stabbed to death in front of his own house by an anarchist (not even this one, Lieske was completely innocent but thought he’d square go the world at his trial anyway)
“… and as they pushed him into the waiting van he yelled, ‘throw dynamites bombs!’” very cool
He was an activist who inspired millions to fight for their rights. He knew what was wrong with our country and risked his life to help his people achieve equality. In the society where black were treated like animal he did everything possible to change this. His brave soul, his will and courage changed the history of America , changed the people. He made us believe we can win this war. He payed for it with his life. He will always be remembered.
Liberals be like: “I demand to speak to the president of Antifa!!”
