Why is Jace Beleren my favorite character? (An essay on Jace’s character development)

Okay what started out as a response that was slightly too long for a Tumblr ask turned into several thousands of words of character analysis that gets progressively more emotional and less coherent as it does on, but I think this does a pretty good job of explaining why Jace is my favorite character.

There are a lot of people who hate Jace because they’ve only seen early Flavor Text Jace and have a third or fourth-hand knowledge of Magic Story, so they think he’s only a smartass jerk who thinks he’s better than other people and destroys minds without hesitation. But there are also a lot of people who like Jace because they’ve basically only read Ixalan block, so they think that Flavor Text Jace was always wrong and that Jace is actually a soft little cinnamon roll baby who has never done anything wrong. These are both incorrect.

He’s my favorite because they’re the same Jace.

Random thought, but something I realized quite recently while thinking about Black and White is how Ingo and Emmet’s personalities seem to relate to the ideologies of Zekrom and Reshiram, respectively.

The white dragon Reshiram represents truth, tradition and the realist mindset. It’s about recognizing how things really are, whether you like it or not. This goes well with Emmet, who besides dressing in white, speaks very matter-of-factly. His words are blunt and to the point. He says exactly what he thinks not as an opinion, but as fact.

On the contrary, the black dragon Zekrom represents ideals, emotion and free-thinking. It’s about expressing how you feel things should be and appeals to the more emotional side of humanity. This goes really well with Ingo, who is definitely more in-tune with his feelings and is not afraid to cheer you on and yell his excitement for all to hear (cue his “BRAVO” from masters). He also dresses all in black, the perfect counterpart to Emmet.

Anyways, I always knew that Ingo and Emmet were dressed this way because of the Black and White duality theme of Gen 5, but it wasn’t until recently I realized their personalities also seem to match the dragons their colors represent as well. Pretty cool stuff, Game Freak :)

My mom kept my baby teeth. And then my second set fell out so I kept those in a little bag and now we both have a set of my baby teeth.

I had 3 sets of teeth. So did my older brother. It was weird cause I’d had them for a few years and then they all started coming out all at once. Had a full new set in like 2 weeks. My dentist said it was fine since nothing grew out of place so idk.
