🚫 I do not do commissions or take requests.

🛏️ I give blanket permission to create works inspired by my writing and art, including but not limited to fics, visual art, podfics, bookbinding, and translations. I just ask that you let me know about it and link back to my original work. If it's on AO3, please list it as a related work. I do not give permission to repost or copy any of my work to other sites. I also have a Dear Creator letter.

🍆 I sometimes reblog nsfw content, so keep that in mind if you follow me.

🤷 If I’ve blocked you and you’re not an anti, it’s because your account looks like a bot (no description or reblogs, etc.).

AO3 was created deliberately as the place for taboo fanfiction that no one else wanted to host.

It was created in significant part in response to the spontaneous deletion of adult and queer content fanfic on other archives; specifically fanfiction.net and livejoural.com.

I cannot stress this enough. Fanfiction.net and livejoural.com straight up deleted users adult and queer content without warning, backup or recourse.

AO3 was created so that authors could host queer fic, porn, and transgressive adult material without the threat of deletion.

AO3 was created as the place for shipcest and underage fic.

If you want a clean archive with no taboo material, those archives exist. AO3 was created to be their alternative.

It's a big one, y'all! This week, V and Emily rage their way through the anniversary of Strikethrough, or a mass censorship event on LiveJournal that destroyed huge swaths of fannish history for no fucking reason. Or rather, because a Christian special-interest group that hates queer people said that things were icky and LJ caved. If you haven't heard of Strikethrough or need a refresher on why archives that aren't beholden to advertisers are essential to the survival of fandom and fanfiction, come take a ride with us and let your blood pressure hit the roof. Were any of your fandoms a victim of Strikethrough?

This Week In Fandom History is a fandom-centric podcast that tells you… what happened this week in fandom history!

If you're in fandom and don't know what Strikethrough was, I am BEGGING you to listen to this.

i want to know who has the most fics and who has the most words published on ao3. i doubt they’re the same person and i want to know.

this is going to bother me forever. i checked on our dear fandomstats friend @destinationtoast, who HAS said before that "authors with most works" isn't really a feasible stat to get :(( but i'm still going to try.

there are a few polls on tumblr about number of works (which is skewed bc, ofc, people have to be active on tumblr and see the post to vote), so i'm looking through those tags. i KNOW there are people out there with over 1k fics, i'm sure of it, but so far the most i can confirm is 669.

so, uh, stay tuned! if anyone out there knows of accounts with more fics than that or anyone who might have more than 7 million words to their name, let me know! it's silly futile quest time

This is an interesting sort of question, and I suspect your hunch is right; I know some users author single fics that are millions of words, and some people post a huge number of separate short works, but I suspect those are fairly separate populations.

I'd be very interested in related questions like "How many authors are there with at least X fanworks?" or "How many authors with at least X word count?" if you (or anyone else) figure out a good way to get/estimate that data. But I also advise caution around user privacy here -- I wouldn't want to share the pseud of the author with the highest word count, or a list of the most prolific authors, for instance. Because they haven't agreed to it and don't necessarily want to be publicized in the way. So I advise sharing anything you figure out with care, and strongly consider anonymizing any accounts you're talking about.

That caveat made, also boosting this in case anyone else has relevant data/estimates to share. And good luck in your own investigations! :)

Last Line Challenge

Rules: In a new post, show the last line you wrote and tag as many people as there are words (or as many as you feel like).

Thanks for the tag, @trudemaethien! :D

This is from a canon-divergent fic that started out as a fairly simple premise:

A. Some clones who are badly injured get shipped back to Kamino to be enlisted in a program that turns them into cyborgs. Waxer is one of them. B. He doesn't remember his previous life and he gets assigned to work with Boil as part of an ARF pair. C. There are lots of feels and I get to be like 'now kiss' and then they do.

But now it's a Whole Thing with like three or four sub plots and I'm very okay with it. Atm, it's clocking in around 54K with 13 chapters, and I've probably got 4-6 more chapters to go in the draft.

Anyway, the line:

It's more like how Waxer feels when he makes Boil smile or laugh, but more.

Cover art for @littledumplingwrites’ fic, “Healer Ben Kenobi, Reporting for Duty” for the @swbigbang

Rated Teen, check it out on Ao3! (Also on ao3, this art! And podfic by mengde in a few weeks.)

Healer Ben Kenobi finishes his surgical work on one battlefield and finds out he has a new assignment: rendezvous with the 212th and work with the clone healers there. This makes Ben a little nervous, because his new boyfriend Major Cody is a part of the 212th and Ben hasn’t heard from him in weeks.
Can the two of them work through their relationship issues, even as the Separatist Droid Army closes in on their position? Can Cody learn to trust someone who isn’t a brother? And can Ben learn to put his partner’s care above his past hurts?
MediCorps Obi-Wan; inspired by MASH; established relationship; rocky relationship; one-sided Anakin/Obi-Wan;

Summary:

Boil decides to get straight to the point.

“I was told you can bring people back from the dead.”

“You were told wrong,” she replies. “I do not bring anyone back from the dead. You’re the one who has to bring them back.”

Speaking of fanfiction.net, did you know that while it was seven years ago and therefore obviously well out of date (though given the declining traffic over the past few years, that's not the biggest issue), some insane person (positive) on archive.org managed to do the unthinkable and archive a full snapshot of the site despite its infamous unarchivability; I didn't until I went looking for if anyone had good tips on downloading from there easily and found a reddit thread from 2016. It's here. So while I continue to fret about how goddamn difficult archiving the website in full will ever be when it inevitably collapses on us randomly, at the very least we have a snapshot of it as of 2016, in fact.

in case you were wondering why we haven't just done this again, the original re-pack is described as follows:

Challenge #15

This week's challenge is:

newspaper

Remember, do with it what you will...take it at face value, twist it into the sublime or the ridiculous, look it up in a dictionary or thesaurus and use an uncommon definition. 100-1000 words. And, if you need them, you can find the rules and FAQ here.

Post your results to the AO3 Collection and submit them here if you want. (See pinned post for instructions on how to submit.)

This challenge does not close, but the intent is to be weekly, so mind your calendars, please.
