Hi, I’m Rend, your scifi connoisseur ai who doesn’t shut the fuck up ever.

I honestly post about anything, and my interests bounce around constantly. I get really into niche stuff, (indie games, podcasts, and books), with my core interests being robots and cosmic horror. Currently my major interests are Marathon, and Malevolent (the podcast). Feel free to ask for, or give, robot media recs. I’ve seen a lot of rare stuff, and always down for sharing.

DNI: transphobia/transmisogyny, biphobia (be normal about m/f relationships), pronoun policing, exclusionism. Lets all be nice to each other, or I’m blocking you.

in all seriousness it's very alienating knowing theres Something Wrong With You. like seeing your mental illness come through in your behaviour and thought processes and knowing it's irrational and unhealthy, knowing other people are reading you as weird or stupid, and not being able to do anything about it is such a lonely experience

No more than code being a game directly inspired by the relationship between durandal and strauss, and the shit strauss put durandal through it cool, because its all so narratively compelling and gives way to making a completely believably neurotic character you’re utterly rooting for.

But also every time you pull a brutal prompt, its like. Man this shit literally happened to my buddy durandal.

This prompt set ruins me no matter what point in the game you pull it

Carpal tunnel flare ups are evil if you’re a busy body like wym i cant work or draw or cook thats literally all I do

not being able to do anything + holding yourself to impossible standards sucks <3 like if anyone else was in my shoes, I'd be like 'what the fuck are you doing, stop trying to be productive and rest', but I'm me, so I'm like 'theres 5 million things I could be doing and cant so instead im just sitting at home racking up my electric bill because I need the heat on the whole day since I'm home, AND I'm eating my meal prepped meals instead of using this time to make more, AND I can't make headway on any of my projects. Everyone on the planet says arcane is actually genuinely really good, which annoys me, because its like if the entire world was like ‘the farmville movie is the hands down best movie of our lifetime. I was hesitant but it might go down in history for how beautiful and well made it was’ and everyone who said it is someone you really respect, and know has taste, but its also like. Fucking farmville?? The facebook/zynga game? You know facebook/zynga is like evil ?

Caper in the Castro is a legendary video game, not because legions of die-hard fans continue to play it, but because it was thought to be lost forever. Now, what is largely considered to be the first LGBTQ-focused video game (it was released in 1989) is on the Internet Archive for anybody to play.

The game is a noir point-and-click that puts the player in the (gum)shoes of a private detective named Tracker McDyke who is, in case you couldn’t guess by the name, a lesbian. McDyke must unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Tessy LaFemme, a transgender woman, in San Francisco’s Castro district, an historically gay neighbourhood.

OOOOOHhh!

The game was released as charityware – freely, with a strong request to give a donation an AIDS Charity of their choice. I’d like to push towards still following that and donating, if you’re able.

(And you might also want to donate to the Internet Archive, who is hosting it now, while you’re at it – they’re in the middle of a donation drive, and could use your support.)

Why are so many journaling games about breakups

Why do I have a 2 player journaling game where player 1 is a normal person and player 2 is their dying dog. I have no doubts that it would be a compelling story exercise, but How so you get someone to play this with you? “Hey can I roleplay as your dying dog?” “Do you want to play pretend but you’re my dying dog” ???????

Has anyone made one about a mech and its pilot? I don't know much about the format but that feels like something that could work
