genuinely hate seeing people talk about how terrible sadness is in inside out cause theyre like "she doesnt even have a reason to be fucking things up!!" like wowwww its almost as if its an allegory for depression and depression has no reason to happen and since sadness is sadness she would be compelled to "mess things up" without any reason almost as if that's how depression works and riley is going through a depression

Uhh i agree with you on hating when people shit on sadness but sadness isnt the same thing as depression. The movie was about how you cant run away from sadness and its healthy to feel sad about things like moving and its bad to bottle up emotions. Depression is a mental illness and depression is when the console was turning grey and they couldnt control riley or make her feel anything, not when sadness was making riley feel sad.

eh i mean i guess but i still feel like sadness's like need for doing these things without any clear motivation or reasoning is still something depression related. like i know sadness herself isn't depression but her actions were kind of the kicking off point for it
