Has anybody talked about that little head shake yet?
Alec has always believed that he could never have what he wanted. Love, romance, a family. He spent his entire youth believing that, coming to terms with that, adapting to that.
And then Magnus Bane came along and threw a wrench into his entire life plan.
A male Downworlder stole his heart. The exact opposite of that he had been told he was supposed to marry. That brave, overdramatic, glittery warlock became the love of his life. In him, he saw his love reflected, he saw an opportunity to use every romantic trope in the book, he saw the potential for a family.
That’s why Alec was going to propose to him, until he saw that Magnus wasn’t in the right place for something like that. But he loved him, loved him so much that he let him go in the belief that he was making Magnus truly happy in the long run (even if he would be forever wrecked).
And he wondered why he had ever begun to think he could have everything after all.
And then this episode happens.
Magnus finds out about the deal, kicks Asmodeus to the curb, rushes to Alicante, and finds Alec. Such a quick, precise series of events. The universe lets it happen. And Magnus begins to propose, himself.
Finally, it seems, Alexander Gideon Lightwood can have everything he wants… and he can barely believe it.
