40,000 years ago, early humans painted hands on the wall of a cave. This morning, my baby cousin began finger painting. All of recorded history happened between these two paintings of human hands. The Nazca Lines and the Mona Lisa. The first TransAtlantic flight and the first voyage to the Moon. Humanity invented the wheel, the telescope, and the nuclear bomb. We eradicated wild poliovirus types 2 and 3. We discovered radio waves, dinosaurs, and the laws of thermodynamics. Freedom Riders crossed the South. Hippies burned their draft cards. Countless genocides, scientific advancements, migrations, and rebellions. More than a hundred billion humans lived and died between these two paintings—one on a sheet of paper, and one on the inside of a cave. At the dawn of time, ancient humans stretched out their hands. And this morning, a child reached back.

A Timeline of Humanity:

hey, i’ve seen this one before!

(yes, that is jolene. no, her and finn are not related, i just accidentally made their designs really similar without thinking about it)

My first biology professor had an ‘inadequacy drawer’ full of things to remind him he wasn’t, in fact, the dumbest and laziest person to ever exist. It was mostly Darwin, notably these two bits:

‘But I am very poorly today and very stupid and hate everybody and everything.’

‘I am going to write a little Book for Murray on orchids and today I hate them worse than everything.’

“I am at work on the second vol. of the Cirripedia, of which creatures I am wonderfully tired: I hate a Barnacle as no man ever did before, not even a Sailor in a slow-sailing ship.”

-Charles Darwin on a letter to his cousin

Charles Darwin: unexpected depression hero.

I knew about “I am very poorly and very stupid and hate everybody and everything,” but not the others.

“I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees” is A Mood.

My favorite Darwinism: “I am dying by inches, from not having any body to talk to about insects”.  Hits me right at the center of my hyperfixated soul.

I hate a Barnacle as no man ever did before

“The work has been turning out badly for me this morning and I am sick at heart and oh my God how I do hate species & varieties”

in the tags, post where you’re from and list the first animal that comes to your head for each of these:

1. animal associated with sleep

2. animal associated with singing

3. animal associated with jumping/bouncing/hopping

4. an animal that is cowardly

5. a wise animal

6. a cunning/sneaky animal

see my tags for examples of what i mean. i want to see what other people connote animals with.

Favorite thing in warrior cats fanart is whenever the artist makes their paws able to move like a human's hand if that makes sense. I like seeing the cats physically point with their fingers or generally make human hand gestures

My favourite example of the domino effect

Allow me to explain:

  • Gerard Way witnesses 9/11 and as a consequence, starts My Chemical Romance
  • Stephanie Meyer sees My Chemical Romance and becomes inspired to write Twilight
  • Somewhere in Rio de Janeiro, a man by the name of Felipe Neto is so outraged by the Twilight movies that he makes a hate video about them that goes so viral he becomes one of Brazil's biggest YouTubers
  • His brother Luccas Neto rides off his fame and becomes a children's YouTuber
  • Across the Atlantic, Portuguese children become obsessed with his videos. Like the lusophone Jake Paul
  • Portuguese children watch his videos so fucking much that they begin talking like they're from Rio
  • Portuguese parents are horrified by the Brazilian Portuguese but can't make it stop
  • Brazilian Portuguese slowly eats alive the European Portuguese dialect

Lol not to be girlie girl but like what if

leafpool fretted over her sister’s “kits” so much that thunderclan endearingly started referring to her as the 3’s second mother.

It would make sense, since of course leafpool couldn’t have kits of her own, so her nephews and niece would fit perfectly into that role for her.

And like- squirrelflight obviously didn’t care in the slightest because of the love she had for her sister. Plus it gave her the chance to stretch her legs whenever the other queens were busy.

YEAH IMAGINE THE ANGST

Points at this!

trying to be sneaky, but i think someone might’ve already spotted you…

jeez, these guys have a good eye 😭 it’s almost like they’re on watch for something

tumblr Ate the third part of the brokentail trilogy

some have noted that being forced to be alive forever is actually a very suitable punishment for brokenstar. this is correct however it's completely irrelevant to why firestar will not let him die.

firestar won't let him die because yellowfang told him that brokenstar was her son and he decided this meant brokenstar is his brother. scourge should be happy firestar does not know what a dad is, or he would not have escaped such a fate either

please please please add Scourge to this AU

scourge is to squirrelflight what brokenstar is to jayfeather

"Issue #26: My Heart Is Too Heavy to Sleep"

Twenty-six issues in and the boys finally get to kiss-kiss-fall-in-love! Aw, I'm so proud of them. I struggled a bit with finding terms for dating in Warriors, since the series never has an in-between stage of friends to mates. "Together" works fine enough for me.

The idea of Pinewing and Cormorantleaf as their warrior names is one I've had for a long time, and admittedly the dumb joke about Pinepaw not knowing what pine trees are is just as old. Hey, he grew up in a wasteland! Not his fault.

It was also fun to draw Cormorantpaw's family again, I love their designs. A little more light is shed on his sordid past, but it's hard for him to talk about. It's still very fresh.

This issue is the longest one yet, so it took me awhile to make, but I like it a lot. I hope you do too.
