I’m watching an older season of Hell’s Kitchen and there’s a bit with a guy who had a shitty abusive childhood getting triggered (and like, nobody uses the word “trigger” but it’s pretty obvious: his eyes glaze over, he becomes spacey and disoriented, he bursts into tears at inopportune moments) by Gordon Ramsey calling him by a nickname he associates with his abusive father, and like, he explains this to Ramsey, and Ramsey is like “I totally understand and I’m sorry, I only wish you had told me about this sooner so we could have avoided this issue compromising your performance in the kitchen” and it’s like… there’s all these ridiculous anti-sj types who are like “TRIGGERS R DUM, NO TRIGGER WARNINGS IN REAL LIFE!!!!!!!!” and meanwhile Gordon fucking Ramsey, the guy whose JOB it is to berate people until they break down on television, understands the validity of trauma-based triggers and is willing to work around them? like come on
hello friends! i left my mother’s house in may fleeing abuse that heightened during the pandemic and have spent a hot sec couch surfing. i’m really thankful to be settling into an apartment but i’m 3500 in debt to my mother and can’t actually afford both my rent and the debt payments. i’m trying to put together some dollars [using my friend’s venmo handle for privacy] to climb out of this debt and be able to stay out of my mom’s longterm.

Please remember that just because the government is giving into pressure and greed, that doesn’t mean that any of this is getting any better, in a lot of ways it’s getting worse. And even if you yourself aren’t being as heavily affected anymore, there are people and communities that are.

I was going to leave this alone but fucking hell. I live in the north west of england. In a village that is almost entirely white. In my 7 months living here I have see 5 poc in my village.
When it was warm the last couple of weekends, people flooded in from nearby cities to get to the lake and enjoy some sun. It was a massive thing on the parish facebook because they were young, rowdy, drunk, high, clogging up the road, actively threatening people, and not practising social distancing.
I didnt go to the lake, but I went to the corner shop and saw the crowds. They were all white. Know what happened?
Police gave out tickets and confiscated beer and drug paraphernalia. Massive crowds that the entire community was fuming over and calling the police on, and they give tickets and frown.
A protest over police violence? By all means, bring in the fucking horses. Let’s charge these civilians. Massive animals that could break your foot just by stepping on your wrong. Let alone at a charge.
