I dunno why yandere classic Papyrus is so rare, because it actually would make a lot of sense since he’s probably not used to being told ‘no’.
- Oh, Papyrus… he doesn’t even mean to be as possessive and obsessive as he is towards Chara in the beginning.
- He’s just a bit overeager and excited is what they both surmise his behavior as. Chara’s kind of happy to have so much attention showered on her, and Papyrus is happy to finally have a datemate.
- Things are… pretty normal for a while. Sure he’s a little clingy and demanding of her attention, but most of his actions are brushed off by everyone as Papyrus being Papyrus that nobody really notices the changes until they become more severe.
- Papyrus wants Chara to move in with him, or vice versa. Cue spit take from Sans.
- Sans has a hard time saying no to his little bro. A really really hard time. He can if he really thinks he’s doing what’s best for him, but now he’s not so sure. Chara has gone above and beyond to prove that she’s no threat to Papyrus, and Sans actually trusts her. But that’s not why he feels uneasy about the whole thing.
- He feels uneasy because of his brother’s behavior. His brother likes living life in the fast lane sometimes, but this is extreme. Sans and Frisk were dating before those two, and Papyrus is already talking about marriage, and he’s serious. Sure, Sans has thought about that too, but he knows better than to broadcast those thoughts aloud this soon.
- Sans manages to talk his brother down from the idea with just a few crocodile tears from the latter, and life goes back to normal for the most part… or so he thinks.
- About two weeks later, Chara has suddenly disappeared. Even Sans is worried at this point. Even stranger, Papyrus’s room is always locked these days. But Sans doesn’t think that much about the connection between the two - he calls himself out on his own stupidity later when the pieces align.
- Papyrus stepped out of his room for just a few minutes and left the door unlocked. Sans uses this opportunity to take a peek inside…
- He finds Chara captive. She had been here all along, under the same roof with them both, with all signs pointing to his brother being responsible for her abduction. Sans moves to untie her, when a shadow looms over him from behind.
- And for the first time in his life, Sans is not afraid for Papyrus, but of Papyrus.
- There’s nothing he can do to help Chara. Papyrus had made this abundantly clear. And Sans knows he wouldn’t have a prayer’s chance if the two of them were forced to fight. Sans can’t tell anyone the truth because the truth seems so unbelievable that if he hadn’t seen it with his own eyesockets and Papyrus hadn’t confessed to it, then he wouldn’t have believed it either.
- Sans is forced to suffer in silence. Pretend that everything is okay when it most certainly is not.
- He actually pities Chara. He tries to make her accommodations as comfortable as Papyrus will allow for the little time his younger brother lets them spend together. Strictly supervised, of course.
- There are only two ways of Chara regaining her freedom that I can see: she either musters up the Determination to attack Papyrus and maybe succeeds if he doesn’t use his full capabilities against her, or Sans convinces Frisk to RESET in the hope that things will turn out better next time.
