For those confused: the player in dark blue was faking out shooting a basket. The defending player in green fell for the fake out and jumped past the player in blue attempting to block the shot. The player in green then landed out of bounds. The player in dark blue then passed him the ball. Out of reflex the player in green caught it. Since that player was out of bounds and now has the ball the ball is handed back over to the dark blue team.

shoutout to the guy who created a parody account of cinemasins where instead of pointing out every single flaw in a film, he just pointed out things he liked about the movie. you're so right cinemawins its so much more fun to like things

CinemaWins once said "Every movie, with very little exception, is someone's favorite, I like to find out why." and that sentence alone is worth more than every single thing the CinemaSins guys have ever created.

Back in the ps2 days I would have gotten a booklet with game instructions and lore, a booklet on how to not have a seizure while playing the system, and a coupon for a gaming magazine that doesn’t exist anymore.

it makes me sad as hell. I use to pour over that little booklet 5 or 6 times before even starting the game. I’d look at all the little concept art and lore. I’d try to imagine what the game would be like in my head based on what the game prompted me with. I’d imagine being in the world myself and what the heck the dash button meant.

Idk I just think that “I have empathy for the friends and family of those that were lost” and “based on everything we’ve learned, going down in that death-trap was an incredibly stupid decision and anyone could see that” and “it is ridiculous anyone would pay 250k to go see a mass grave, the wealth gap has gotten out of hand so I can’t find it in myself to shed tears for the men involved” and “it is heartbreaking a teenage boy was lost because he wanted to impress his father” are statements that can coexist.

Human emotions are grey.

Did You Know: if you get to the airport early enough in the morning, you can look through the big windows and watch them shovel oats and alfalfa into big troughs for the planes

I know it looks cute, but the airplanes only line up for food when their enclosure isn’t enriching enough.

that might be true of smaller airports where the planes spend more time on the ground, but at large international airports, the planes get tons of enrichment from socializing with one another and lots of exercise flying, so it’s actually fine that their enclosures aren’t much more than a space for them to rest.

i’m not against vaping, but man, vaping two inches from my face on the subway is a ridiculous asshole kind of move. this dude was billowing like he was auditioning for the role of haunted house fog machine. the humidity in the whole car changed, he was ruining haircuts. just jump starting the water cycle. condensation was dripping down my glasses. people were slipping off poles, it was chaos. it was like watching one man try to terraform the moon. a planet with one dense, root beer scented atmosphere blocking out the sun and choking all life.

i consider this a sort of prose poem to be honest

Does anyone have an update on where things are at with the writers strike? It's disappeared from my various feeds and algorithms.

The writers' strike is ongoing and the studios are still not returning to the negotiating table. Unfortunately a lot of the coverage has tapered off because we're on 50+ days of striking and it's not new anymore. The last strike in 2007 lasted 100 days, so don't be surprised if this strike lasts as long, or even longer.

The biggest recent news is that the Directors' Guild of America (DGA) voted to ratify their new agreement with the studios (article from June 23), and it appears likely that the actors' guild (SAG-AFTRA) will also take a deal instead of striking (article from June 24). Although this is disappointing news, it's completely expected. During previous strikes, the WGA held its own without other unions going on strike. Which is to say—don't be disheartened by the news that there won't be a triple strike. The WGA is strong enough!

Please keep vocally supporting the WGA online to keep the pressure on the studios & to keep WGA members motivated and encouraged! There are many ongoing donation drives, such as the Star Trek fan snack squad (Twitter account required to DM the organizer) and the Our Flag Means Death snack squad (opens the PayPal fundraising page—no Twitter required). There's a longer list of ongoing donation drives here.

The Entertainment Community Fund is also always accepting donations to support entertainment workers affected by the strike. Please boost and encourage your friends to keep supporting the strike. Hashtag #IStandWithTheWGA #DoTheWriteThing to boost the cause!

It's sad to see the DGA go the way they went. SAG-AFTRA are still, I think, waving in the wind.

But for the WGA, this strike is (borrowing a metaphor) Helm's Deep. We have to take the stand that will allow us to—in a month or two, or three (argh), when shit starts to get serious at the AMPTP's end—roll up in front of Minas Tirith and let the other side hear the horns in the morning.

They think they're going to successfully wait us out. They are now slowly (however slowly) beginning to realize that we're waiting them out. Writers are USED to one form or another of the Great Hiatus. They're not. Their stockholders are going to get restive.

We can wait, though it hurts. It's what writers do.

this has almost 11 million notes what is this

I’ve never seen this post once in 10 years on this site

I’ve never even heard of this before tho??? Wtf??????????

oh my god, I didn’t think there were any surviving versions of this post left

For those who weren’t around in the Deep Lore times, this is one of the relics of the editable post era. This post has THE SINGLE HIGHEST NOTES of ANY post on this site, bar none, but with more than a dozen variations. Every single post you’ve ever seen with more than 3 million notes has been a different version of this one.

This is the “Dean’s Gym Shorts” post. This is the Flubber post. This is the original “Reblog if you support gay people” post. it was ALL of them. before half the site got nuked, it had even more notes than it has now - at one point, well over 15 million, and that was years ago.

This, with no exaggeration, is the ONE TRUE heritage post

u can become fully immune to a lot of scaremongering transphobic headlines simply by being chill about otherkin stuff. 'what's next? children identifying as CATS and DOGS??' why not! i hope they have a lovely time doing it.

obviously being trans & being otherkin aren't directly equivalent to each other but like. a major part of LGBT acceptance is u know 'people should be able to do whatever they want so long as it's not harming anyone' so a lot of these slippery slope type arguments are just. very silly. it literally doesn't effect me at all if people want to identify as animals. also people have been doing that for years and it hasn't brought about the downfall of society yet so i think we are okay.

A sizeable portion of us (otherkind/therians, and furries too) are also trans and genderweird in some way. When you poke holes in one facet of your identity, some interesting things can poke back.

And even cis otherkind are some of the best allies to have at your back, because we all take advocation for bodily autonomy to the TOP. Everyone should have the freedom to modify their body in any way they want to, no questions asked, whether it's to re-arrange your genitals or to shape your ears like an elf. A person's right to transform themselves - in any human or nonhuman form - is sacred.

I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

"I despise your wretched little games" perfectly conveys how I feel about the entire algorithm/attention economy
