I feel like as an audience, we always want to put c!Tommy in the right here. He’s a kid. He’s young. He makes mistakes. But- guys. He keeps making the same ones. Over. And over again.

C!Tommy tries to be the hero. He goes behind people’s backs to do so. Even after everyone goes out of their way to protect him.

C!Sam has done things that are awful. Ponk did not deserve the arm loss, amongst other things. But c!Tommy has been manipulating c!Sam. He has been in control of how they’re going about taking care of c!Dream this whole time.

Now he’s blaming c!sam for his mistakes. And I see everyone saying this one is on c!sam. Let’s say he sent the thing back for Ghostbur. What would have happened? What if c!dream revived c!wilbur and he didn’t respawn in L’Manburg. What if c!Dream managed to break a block seeing as he somehow got the ducking book?

There are too many variables. And c!Sam had to make a decision. I don’t blame him for trying to protect the kid he cares for over a ghost. (Fucking love Ghostbur tho. I better see him soon or he better be a part of c!wilbur)

Maybe we should stop blaming just the one adult who is currently responsible for a majority of the smp. Give him a break.

Couple of notes for the op! /nm /gen

Tommy only went behind Sam’s back because Sam didn’t let him out of the prison cell and he died. Sam was dealing with a possible security issue but when Tommy was revived out of shock Sam instantly got him out no issues without solving the security issue. 

Now to Tommy it looks like Sam kept him in there and broke the contact by keeping him in longer for no reason and let him get traumatized and hurt for no reason. Of course Sam was just trying to protect him but Sam sadly is unaware of how damaging being trapped with an abuser is.

Tommy went behind Sam’s back because he didn’t trust Sam from his pov a good reason. 

Also Tommy didn’t break in to be ‘’be a hero’’ he has stated multiple times he doesn’t want to be a hero, like to Techno on the 16th, like to Sam Nook (and out right refusing to take down the egg and be a ‘’hero’’ because he’s worried it might hurt others) etc. etc. Tommy has made it clear he doesn’t want to be a hero. The reason Tommy went to kill Dream was because Dream convinced him that he knew how to escape and was going to torture/kill everyone Tommy cares about. Tommy claims many times that he does not want to kill Dream but he feels he has to because Dream’s convinced him he knows how to escape and is going to torture/kill everyone Tommy loves.

The reason Tommy only does it with himself and Ghostbur is because he wants Tubbo to be safe is his ‘’little be world’’. Throughout the smp Tommy has claimed to be exhausted with the conflict, Tommy is doing it with only Ghostbur because he is trying to protect the others (also both Tubbo and Ranboo are banned from the prison so Ghostbur was the only option) not out of heroism but because Dream has showed active intent (especially with Tubbo) that he wants to kill/hurt them.

Also how was Tommy sneaking in behind Ghostbur manipulation? (/gen) You should be careful throwing that word around... /nm

Does this make it Sam’s fault? NO! 

I recognize Sam was in a high pressure situation, his paranoia made him not send the platform back and he didn’t think Ghostbur could be hurt (’’He’s a ghost!’’). Though Tommy blaming him is makes sense from his pov (Not objectivity but from his pov) as Tommy does not have the same paranoia on safety that Sam developed so he does not see why the platform can’t be sent back for Ghostbur and is already panicking from the trauma he displayed in the previous stream he hadn’t gotten over from the prison cell. Tommy tries to explain why he needs to kill Dream but Sam in is a very stressful situation and ignores him lashing out (which we know is from all his building up stress and trauma but Tommy doesn’t know that) and says things that confuse Tommy, blaming him fully for ALL of the security issues and blaming him for a lot of things that are very uncomfortable for a victim of abuse. 

Sam blames Tommy for Ghostbur getting hurt because from his pov Tommy broke in for no reason, Tommy blames Sam because he doesn’t understand why Sam was fearful of sending back the platform and felt he had no choice but to break in because otherwise he was convince everyone he cared for would be killed/tortured. Sam goes on to say how Tommy should be dead which we know is a PTSD trigger for Tommy after revival but Sam is completely unaware and is showing that despite the warden rules he still is trying to protect Tommy unable to kill him but Tommy doesn’t know this and is shocked Sam would want him dead.

Your completely right in that Sam isn’t to blame but Tommy isn’t to either.      

Just to clarify, I never meant for this to sound like I was blaming Tommy for everything. Cause I honestly think both Tommy and Sam were not going about things correctly. And right now the funky buildy shark himbo is about the only sane one on the server.

Sam letting Dream get tortured is crossing so many lines. The same way he did with Ponk. His character in general is trying to keep the peace and protect the people he loves from someone who is intent on hurting others for power. What I don’t think Sam is doing is trying to have power himself which I see a lot of people claiming. I think he is trying to handle every situation as best as he can but is being dragged in so many directions. He is also probably being manipulated by others like Quackity and Dream who want to use him for what they want. I honestly think that even though Dream is in a cell he is in Sam’s ear.

And Tommy has every right to want Dream dead. He has tortured and used and been nothing but an awful being to him. Tommy wants to help others to and to keep them save knowing that Dream will target them because of him. Tommy was not responsible for Ghostburs death and neither was it Sam’s .

My original post was trying to comment on how Sam gets a lot of blame for things that at times he cannot control. He also is one of the only adults trying not to suck(if that makes sense). I just wish Tommy’s character wouldn’t immediately blame him for everything that happens because they could really work with each other and heal together.

Fair, but telling Tommy he should’ve died and blaming him for when the prison was compromised the first time was too far in my opinion. Sam was within his right to not listen to Tommy and I think he did the right thing with the information he had, but you... you don’t victim blame someone like that, or at all, and you don’t say they should’ve died, or that the time they got trapped in prison and beaten to death by their abuser is their fault.

Both of them fucked up, and they need to get help.

@cherryberrykomainu I agree! They both messed up big time. I guess I took Sam saying “you should be dead” as like trying to get it through his head that he could have died. That he needed to think about himself because he only has one life left. But he def was talking through anger.

Sam is not an inherently evil character. He is a deeply traumatised character. He has been through so much, dealing with dream relating how we treated tommy, being constantly taunted by the fact that he ‘let’ tommy die, being emotionally and mentally manipulated by quackity,, he has been conditioned to believe in violence, hes been made to believe that torture is productive, and he’s become visibly and audibly defeated. He’s a lot more complex than pure evil

They’re both right, Tommy is trying to do what he thinks is best, but Sam is right, Tommy allowed Dream take a hostage and revive Wilbur even if he didn’t mean to
