I’m pretty sure that as far as “infuriating helmets you’d hate to see before you get stabbed” go, this one is definitely up there

Up there, yes, but is it really quite all the way at the top?

why the fuck weren’t any of these in dark souls

my foes shall see a formidable ^_^ before their inevitable demise

I dunno if this has been posted yet, but.....

Keep this shit off AO3

We don't want that kind of pearl clutching 'christian' conservative sitting on the AO3 board. Keep Moms For Liberty out of our fanfiction.

this is the second fucking year in a row someone has tried to pull this crap. but if you're still on the fence about it (though fair warning, I am not copying everything she wrote as a response, which you can read on the OTW website):

Would you be in favor of creating a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee? Why or why not? I see no reason creating another committee would help anything in light of the continued staffing issues, and see several ways it could hurt. Lumping nonwhite, and non-English-speaking, and non-American volunteers together in one committee is just tokenism with a bow on top. Those experiences are not singular or universal. The DEI consultant to be hired by the organization will be able to speak to this far better than I can. The cost of becoming a member/voting in elections is prohibitive for many users, particularly disabled, international and POC ones. Do you have any ideas about how this could be improved to make the otw more inclusive and less privileged? No.

Also, just for some proof of the "Republican" part, from Twitter:

like, it's not a pejorative, it's how she's self-identified

also, ENTIRELY unrelated to this crap, but she's only been a volunteer for about a year and a lot of her answers to questions about ongoing problems is "I don't know because I've only been here a year." she doesn't even know what PAC is.

Zine sales are over so I can post my pieces now!! These are all 12 icons I made for the @op-pride-zine <3 I had a ton of fun making them and being a part of this zine and I hope everyone who purchased it enjoyed it as well :)

Please credit me if using :D!

its real... fibromyalgia is real... i mean its obviously real but. its real. ;_;

Oh…. Oh…………… ;_; indeed. Wow.

Here’s the study for more info

And a quick reader friendly summary of the findings

It’s always kind of been a bullshit “symptoms syndrome,” “go away shut up ‘diagnosis’” to me, which was NOT helped by there being no treatment ever offered other than “exercise and improve your mental health you’re just lazy and depressed and anxious and feeling exertion makes you more anxious (saying ‘exertion/exercise intolerance’ makes you go to hell for real) go to therapy” so like. actually seeing solid well researched evidence that no I’m not just a pathetic stupid clumsy weak person with no distress tolerance as I’ve very much internalized…. I am undone.

Really good article exploring our tendency as a community to ostracise, condemn and bully each other. And also what we can do better 🐌🐛

Read this. Then read it again. Read it until you understand that we are stronger united than divided, and that you cannot demand for every person who disappoints you to be shunned by society.

This is not to say that we should allow people to “get away with” harmful behaviour or force survivors to stay in relationships with abusers. Boundaries are a necessary part of love — setting boundaries is the way that we create the space to love ourselves and others at the same time. There is a difference between setting a boundary and containing harmful actions, even ones as harmful as abuse and violence, and punishing someone for the sake of vengeance. There is a difference between ending a relationship with an abusive person and demanding that the abusive person should be “disappeared” from society. In my first somatics course, the teacher spoke to us about co-regulation: the ability of our bodies’ nervous systems to gradually become attuned to one another. She likened this to a group of fireflies coming together in the night: their flashing bioluminescence starts off random and asynchronous, but the more time they spend together, the more their flashes coalesce around a shared rhythm. This is us: we are each so powerful, so brilliant, so capable of individual, fierce resilience. We are also capable of harmony, of coming together to form a single bright light. We have the ability to love one another, deeply and securely. And we are capable of imagining a world, of bringing a world into being, where we do not have to kill each other to survive.

I find it fascinating that Lila seems to have some kind of Umbridge Effect on the fandom.

Umbridge Effect is what I call the phenomenon of people feeling some kind of intense primordial rage towards a mean-spirited character who is not even the most evil—hating Umbridge passionately while Voldemort committed way more crimes, for example—but has the impressive capacity of driving every fan up the wall to a ridiculous extent.

Having a look at all the “Lila gets wrecked” revenge fics on Ao3 I sometimes feel like it’s the case with Lila too. I think she tends to invoke more rage than Gabriel Agreste himself. Her POWER 😭

so i never got around to answering this ask when it was first sent but looking back at it now after all the events of season 5 its so funny to me. the idea behind the umbridge effect is that people hate the character more because they're a more mundane form of evil that viewers are more likely to have encountered in their own lives. which even then wasn't something i was fully convinced on because emotionally abusive fathers are every bit a depressingly everyday sort of evil as schoolgirl bullies are. but she without a doubt invoked a hatred from fandom gabriel agreste could never touch.

but i think any argument that lila is either a more everyday evil or even less evil than gabriel has been THOROUGHLY thrown out by canon now. chances are you know a chloe, but you don't know a lila. this girl is so far beyond a simple girl bully. she's convinced 3 separate women they are her mother. she staged a coup of the city of paris. she has an evil dungeon lair covered in graffiti. we don't even know her real name. lila is not an everyday evil. lila is an evil they make biopics on and unsolved mysteries episodes about.

this girl is not umbridge, she's gilderoy lockhart
