If this thought hadn’t crossed anyone’s mind watching this already, re-watch it taking into consideration that gravity exerts an unpredictable chaos on dangling objects, that the puppet’s own wobbliness is most of the movement we see here and this woman simply has that flawless of a feel for how physics will continue moving the limbs at the slightest single twitch of her finger. This is a real deal fucking puppeteer no matter what her background or how long she’s been doing it. That wooden mouse is an appendage of this woman’s soul.

all video games should have a “I’m shit at video games but I’m curious about the story and I don’t want to watch a let’s play” mode

I made this post because I am disabled and no matter how much I practice there are some games I will never be able to play because I physically cannot move my fingers the way you have to and the responses to this post from other disabled people, people who grew up unable to play video games, and people who just aren’t very good at them has been extremely enthusiastically positive, while people who apparently can’t conceive of the idea that some people will never be good at gaming condescendingly comment, tag or send me asks telling me to try easy mode or to get good despite the fact that the feature I’m describing already exists in some games and mods. if you’re part of the latter group, consider that some of us can not ever be good at video games and we still deserve to be able to participate and have fun

Ok, real talk, if you play PC games I use a program called Wemod that has settings for almost every game ever and you can change them to suit your needs Unlimited health? one hit kill? unlimited items? They can’t mod multiplayer games, but every genre of game imaginable is on Wemod so I use it for everything from stardew valley, subnautica, hades, farming sim and more! It mods the games to your level of ease without needing to mess with any files or get deep into webpages for mods yourself It is a life changer

One, this is older siblings who watch younger siblings play erasure, two that’s not the point. People deserve to enjoy the experience of playing a game for themselves. Watching someone play is fun. Playing yourself is a different kind of fun.

There are so many reasons why someone wouldn’t want to be challenged by a game, and it’s ridiculous that people can’t fathom someone requiring a different gameplay than themselves. 

Back in the dark ages when I was a kid and we got our first computer, my dad noticed that I was sad because I wanted to play computer games like him, so he would let me play his games in god mode. Should a five year old have been playing Ultimate Doom? Absolutely not. Did I enjoy the shit out of it, particularly the part where I couldn’t die and could just wander around aimlessly machine gunning demons to death with no real goal in mind? Hell yes.

Also, no one should have to explain the reason they want to play the game in god mode.

That is absolutely none of your business, if someone wants to play the game with max items, weapons, armor, money etc., whatever reason they’re playing that way for. YOU, the anon on the internet have no business knowing or shitting on how they play. It’s THEIR game, and THEIR gameplay experience. and I hope OP was able to play their game the way they wanted to without being stymied by the games mechanics.

She said she didn't believe me when I told her the city of Cairo is like four times the size of New York and is very much filled with high rise buildings and is very much a major modern city. I had to google it for her and show her.

someone else out there can probably explain it better than me but south park absolutely rotted people’s brains. maybe some of you are too young to remember, but 10-15 years ago people were honestly so vile because of that show.

south park made it funny to be antisemitic, racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist etc. it introduced forms of bigotry to a lot of kids who otherwise wouldn’t have considered it otherwise.

It's going to get wedged in your speech, even after you haven't watched South Park for 20+ years.

When the show first started, my kid's dad was super into it, and I ended up watching it with him and his friends. I got tired of it pretty quickly, but despite not having watched it since 1998, I still catch myself saying 'nnnno!' at my computer the same way that Cartman says the 'no' in 'no kitty!'

I have not watched this show in literally 25 years, and it is everything that I try so so so hard not to be, but people might catch me literally quoting it without realizing. It fucking sucks. Don't do that to yourself.

And like... in addition to the above, one of the worst things that South Park did was hammered in and reinforced how dumb and un-cool it is to care about things in a genuine fashion. Like, the 90s in general were very much 'if you care about things, you are not cool.' Ben Folds wrote a freaking song called the Battle Of Who Could Care Less, etc. etc. -- but South Park took it past 'well, you can't be cool if you care too much' to openly mocking and deriding people who genuinely give a shit about things as if that's the worst thing to ever happen in the world, and if that's the source of everything wrong in the world.

It's such a pernicious fucking attitude. Nothing gets better unless people give a fuck enough to change it, but South Park was one of the biggest forces pushing the idea that Caring Is Stupid. The whole concept of 'earnestness = cringe' which is everygoddamnedwhere is one of the worst aftereffects of that awful show being everyfuckingwhere.

Cheryl Dunye’s directorial debut, The Watermelon Woman, was out of print between 2000 and 2018. Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace was only available to watch on a pirate channel on YouTube until last year. There is still no way to watch the X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen except to own a dvd box set that has been out of print since 2005. Or to pirate it. It’s on YouTube.

Piracy is incredibly important to keep media that’s weird, or out there or just embarrassing to someone in power, alive. We need piracy and we need to stop being snitches when someone pirates stuff.
