Saw someone describe the whole "performative male" thing as anglerfish verses bird of paradise and it's such a good analogy omg.

(As in some men perform femininity to capture prey vs men who perform femininity to attract a mate and it's the first group thats the problem.)

Where I lost them is when they said the performative male contests is punishing men for adopting femininity, cause CLEARLY they're taking the piss out of the "anglerfish" type.
