When I was younger I would watch the 4kids dub of hamtaro every day, and I loved it so much. But the one thing that pissed me off so much as a kid is because hamtaro would blatantly try to help Boss get with bijuu, but then hamtaro would just be like "jk I'm hooking up with her" and I would always get so pissed.

I swear that stupid lil bara hamster named boss was my favorite character because he is literary a middle aged man but as a hamster.

Why Yandere Dev should not be respected

(wow first post in and i’m already going hard)

Yandere Dev also known as EvaXephon or Alex is a game developer working on a game called “Yandere Simulator”, by now this should be basic knowledge but what most people don’t know is how shady Alex can be.

Yandere Simulator started off as an idea on 4chan in April 2014, the idea got positive feedback so Alex decided to start working on it.

The first prototype(video) was released on April 4th of 2014, showing basic game play functions. 

The game was supposed to be simple, eliminate potential rivals and win the boy over. 

However, the game did not stay simple for very long.

In may there came two very important videos that would set a pattern for the remaining years of development these videos were May 1st Build Delayed and  Eavesdropping, Notes in Lockers, and Faking Suicide. 

May 1st Build Delayed started the chain of game updates being delayed for reasons of varying importance, this first video seem simple although in June another video followed which is linked here and in August which is linked here. 

The second video Eavesdropping, Notes in Lockers, and Faking Suicide brought several new game mechanics, which were simply not needed. This game was supposed to be a short game, one or two rivals with a quick ending. Instead the game grew more and more complicated, which in the long run was a bad idea because that contributed to many different problems Yandere-Dev would be faced with.

The first problem that Yandere Dev would be faced with is the email situation, Yandere Dev complained about his email being spammed and it’s still a touchy subject to this day. Three years ago he made three videos complaining about the subject, these videos are:  E-mails, Volunteers, and Progress - Part 1,  E-mails, Volunteers, and Progress - Part 2 and Email Status Update these videos can be summed up with “Waah woe is me, I can’t create a separate email for my volunteers” or “I can’t have my volunteers tag their emails so I have to go through all these emails.” This problem would eventually create Midori Gurin, a character meant to represent fans, this character would constantly be murdered and  is very annoying. Really shows how much Yandere Dev cares for his fans.

The next problem Yandere Dev would face is the fact that he does not know how to code well, sure he can code the game but not efficiently. If you launch the game now, you’ll find that the frame rate isn’t the best, this is because of Yandere Dev’s code. His code has to constantly check itself using if/else statements, since the game is checking all of this the frame rate suffers because of it. The more things Yandere Dev adds into the game, the more statements the game has to check.

These two points are the mostly caused by the videos I stated earlier, which by all means is Yandere Dev’s own fault.

However as time went on and Yandere Simulator changed from it’s original intention we also saw new sides of Yandere Dev, the most prominent thing we learned was that Yandere Dev cannot take criticism.

You see, a while back Alex wanted to create a new game, this game was called Lunar Scythe, he published his idea, 30 second game play video and the demo on the SkullHeart forums, if you would like to read the whole thread it’s here. At first he received positive feedback however this review really set him off:

After all of this, Alex swore that he’d create a better game that Skullgirls and then vanished into the night, a month or two later Yandere Sim was born. 

After four years, you’d hope that he’d change, you’d be wrong. He bans anyone who has a different opinion than him, whether it be the official Reddit, Twitch or Discord.

There’s not much left to say on his lack of accepting constructive criticism but there is a lot left to say on his streaming.

As of writing this right now it seems like Yandere Dev just ended a stream, according to Yandere Dev this is his work schedule but in my opinion it seems a little outdated, no where in this post does it mention streaming. He’s allowed to take breaks, sure. Yet his streaming hours can add up to 12 or 10 hours a day, leaving almost no time for coding, if you want to stay on a correct schedule. It’s also important to note how long he streams since he has a Patreon where he is paid currently $3,491 a month to develop, which is pretty good since he gets to keep all $41,892 since he lives with his parents and he doesn’t have to pay any bills. (Plus I’m almost positive you can subscribe to him on Twitch and give him Bits.)

There’s a lot left to say about Alex but I feel like these are the main points about him, you’re allowed to like his game but you shouldn’t support the man blindly.
