Over the passed few years, anti Romani racism in Latinoamerica has gotten progressively worse. In Chile, Romani communities have been harassed to the point that their pets have been poisoned to get them out of town. In Mexico, we were banned from immigrating into the country during WWII even as refugees from the Nazi regime. We’re treated like garbage and pests in Latinoamerica, and in Brazil, recently, the military have escalated violence against the Kalon community to the point that people have died, and the murder of Morais da Silva Matos is a symptom of this. But, just like the murder of Stanislav Tomaš in the Czech Republic, no major media is talking about the increasing violence against the Brazilian Romani community. People cared more about the name changing of a MOTH than they do the murders of Romani.
At the moment, the family is demanding a full investigation into the murder of their fourteen year old son. PLEASE boost #JustiçaParaMoraes wherever you can, follow AMSK Brasil for any updates on this case including any donation posts, don’t let this case fade into nothing.
